Nevada's "other" gambling and resort town, Reno is located in the western part of the state near the California border. What the city lacks in glitz or reputation it more than makes up for in attractions and amenities. There are first-rate hotels, golf courses and casinos to rival its southern counterpart and, also like Las Vegas, Reno has become a popular destination for families. Galena Creek Park offers nature trails that even young children can navigate, plus organized educational events for families.

Offering more than 224 vehicles on display, this museum contains one of the greatest car collections anywhere.
Nice selection of remaining Harrah's cars from brass era to 70's. Nicely displayed in 4 large rooms. For any car person, this is a nice museum

We went on Saturday and was disappointed. There were many lags during the day where they just broadcast unending commercials. At home I have a Mute on my TV but found this annoying at best. We needed to rent a golf cart and found the Air Racing Association required a "gift" of $250, plus the rental fee. When leaving after the last event they did not provide a shuttle to the Handicapped Parking Lot. What an Outrageous Rip OFF!! We came from Florida and can assure you we will not return.

Greater Nevada Field opened in 2009 as the home to the Triple-A Reno Aces, top affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2017, the ballpark welcomed Reno 1868 FC, a professional USL soccer franchise and top affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes. The Aces and 1868 FC share the year round facility, which includes a haunted house in October, ice skating during the holidays, and dozens of community events through the year.
Greater Nevada Field, also known as Aces Stadium, by locals is more than a baseball field. Sure, you can see top notch AAA baseball and maybe a big name leaguer playing a few innings on a rehab assignment. But if you visit Greater Nevada Field on game night, you'll experience a lot more than the game. Within an easy walk from downtown casino hotels, this baseball complex is also part of the Freight House District, which offers great places to eat, hangout for a drink and even after game live concerts. It's a great change of pace from the casino scene during the spring and summer months.

Spent a wonderful day skiing here. Everything about the place is well thought-out, from ticket window to lodge locations and other amenities including food service. Staff was friendly and helpful in all areas! I especially noted the attentiveness of the lift attendants at the beginner lifts. They actually watched the kids getting on and off ! I’m from NY and ski the east, where customer service can be sketchy! These people coached and cheered the kids getting on and off! We did all the lifts just to check out the beginner territory and if I was starting my kids out, this would be the place. Green trails are easy to access without worrying about wandering off onto trails that are too tough. My hubby and I are older and we mostly like the blue and green cruisers. There are plenty of them and all trails are well-marked. As for food, pricing was great and this may sound odd, but the pub was for over 21 only and you could get your food and bring it in! Try the Bloody Mary. And best of all was the great price! Check out the specials on Tuesday and Thursdays. We skied at Heavenly the day before for a lot more money overall, including lift Tix, food and parking. This was by far the better value. And this is where the kids in the ski shop ( Bobo’s in Reno ) recommend. Now I know why!

The Discovery is a 67,000 square-foot, hands-on science and technology museum presenting interactive exhibits & temporary exhibitions.
Having endured visits to Children's museums in three of four time zones of the continental US, this one was a pleasant surprise. The staff are friendly, efficient, and obviously concerned with making the museum the place to be for inquisitive youngsters. The exhibits were clean, uncluttered, and with suitable explanations for all ages of kids. Ours found the IQ games room and the robotics rooms the most fun, and there are dedicated classrooms as well. The museum is small enough to cover in one day, and there is a central climbing structure for those mental breaks every child needs. Note: there are no food vendors in the facility. A lone vending machine provides snacks near the dining area.

During a visit to Reno at the end of September, we made plans to visit Animal Ark. I love animals and was very excited to see them in a place that indicates Animal Ark is a forever home for animals that cannot be returned to the wild. It also apparently is, per one of the staff a place where bears are rehabilitated and released.
I imagined animals in large nature like enclosures. I'm not sure if others who have written reviews have seen other animal exhibitions, but even the San Francisco Zoo have larger enclosures for their animals. It does not appear the birds have enough room to duly fly somewhat perch to perch. Again a city zoo, SF, have bird enclosures in which birds can take a short flight.
We got there right at 10:00 and saw about 1/2 the animals before the 10:30 bear feed. Some of the cats were up at their cage door waiting to be let into their enclosures. One of the mountain lions who was out was circling in his small enclosure.
I did enjoy seeing the feeding of the bear. They place cut up fruit and nuts around the enclosure and it is interesting watching the bear peruse the food and deciding what to eat first.
By the time we finished watching the bearfeed, the animals were already settling down for their late morning naps so weren't as visible.
Because I like gardens I enjoyed several areas where they have planted different trees and irrigated them so you have some beautiful greenery in this arid region.
Also, about a mile or so, the road to Animal Ark is a gravel road.
The employees and volunteers are passionate it appears ,and I really wanted to like this place but the small enclosures made me feel sorry for animals in "their forever home".

The Nevada Museum of Art is a museum of ideas. The only accredited art museum in the state, it is a private, non-profit organization supported by the generosity of its membership as well as by sponsorships and grants. Through creative programming and scholarship, the Museum provides the opportunity for people to encounter, engage and enjoy a diversity of art experiences. The Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, late on Thursdays until 8 pm. The galleries, Museum Store and on-site restaurant Chez Louie are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and national holidays.
This is a gem of culture in this rather small town. Dedicated to art from the State of Nevada, the museum often has unusual expos worth seeing. And it is beautiful modern architecture. I love to visit.

River walkway that affords views of the river and Reno.
One of the best features of Reno, this park along the River is a great place to stroll or sit, or play in the water. Beautifully developed. Area around is full of very good restaurants and bars.
