The castle and the surrounding walls are a must to visit if you visit Pskov. Also, one the grounds, there is the main Cathedral. The castle is impressive and deserves a tour both from the outside and the inside. Souvenir stalls and shops too in the area. I recommend to take a walk to the bridge and park "behind" the castle for some very nice views.

If you are traveling somewhere between Baltic countries and Russian capital city, visiting Izbosk could be a nice decision! Beautiful nature, Russian spirit and tasty cuisine (don't forget to taste blini (pancakes) in the restaurant, located on the territory of national park, and try 'trubochki so sgushenkoj' (old ladies sell them near the fortress). believe me, they are amazing!

The Fortress has lasted well despite of the wild past. Its walls impress … Not only by dimensions and sense of strength and impregnability, but also that they have borne the brunt of many fights and battles.
These impressions are not so easy to adopt as it may seem, well the walls are, as matter of fact, a chronicle of bad and good, low and lofty, disgraceful death and great victories…
But let’s forget for a while about the past and look around.
The Nature is wonderful. I was there in mid-autumn, so the richness of colors and their depth were fantastic.
Vasilkovo lake is marvelous, especially the swans gliding over the smooth surface of the lake.
Slavonic Springs – water Springs out right from the rock – is just peerless.
Everything is simple, impressive and marvelous.
And … the apples … a great many of them – big, pink and tasty – are in the Gardens around.
Must be visited.

Nice place to feel the atmosphere where Alexander Pushkin lived and created his famous poems. Unfortunately nothing has been preserved form Pushkin times because his original house has been burned down several times. Still very nice walks through Forests and parks and specially interesting and funny excursions buy very well taught Russian guides who are extremely fond of their beloved poet.

This is really huge monument honored Alexander Nevsky and the warriors. The monument itself is located in suburbans, but because of its size it is possible to see it from far away. You can walk all around the monument with the camera in your hands, access to the site is free. Overall it would take around 1 hour of your time.

This is one of the oldest monasteries in the Pskov, but monasteries within the city and suburbans are big quantity. It is located on the river bank opposite side of Kremlin around 1km away. Nearby there is made a brand new park with asphalted pedestrian routes. If you are interested in ancient history and holy places you would like it. Anyway it is nice to spend some free time with no fuss. Access to the monastery is free, you can take your camera with you. It is possible to relax near by on the river bank or in newly made park on one of the benches. There is a free parking place as well.

A very old building of a local nobleman that has been restored and turned into a local museum, Pogankin Chambers offers an interesting glimpse into the history of Pskov, and displays an interesting collection of historic items, which are definitely worth seeing. I recommend visiting the place if you like history.
