Barone Pizzini is a winery in Franciacorta and it’s the first to produce Franciacorta from organic grapes. The cellar was built according to eco-friendly architectural standards. The vineyards cover a total surface area of 47 hectares. The cellar tour follows a raised route that takes you through all the production stages; it continues to a room 10 m below ground level, where you find the barrique cellar and ends up with a wine tasting.

We know a fair bit about wine but were unfamiliar with Franciacorta. Unlike the traditional Italian bubbly - Prosecco, Franciacorta is prepared with the methode champenoise as French champagne. Results are delicious. Beautiful, stylish grounds. Interesting tour. Nice tasting and an elegant light lunch. Busy place with visitors, a few groups, a wedding party, etc. Worth a visit.
