Located to the north of the city, Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery is a peaceful place with a rich local history that can be discovered via a heritage walk. While the cemetery is mostly full, there are a number of memorial options available. The Friends of Coburg Cemetery takes an active interest in the rich history of the cemetery and the area it serves, and runs historical tours from time to time.
Motorists driving down Bell Street, the great artery connecting Melbourne's western and eastern suburbs, may notice a field of shrines and gravestones. This is Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery. Unlike other states, such as Western Australia, these burial plots are maintained for eternity. The plots are not reused, though other family members may be added to the grave. Burials began in 1858 and by 1971, the cemetery had reached capacity. The graves have a great array of memorials and many people, both humble and notable, are interred here. The entrance is off Bell Street, visitors are welcome.

Clan Collective is a local gallery and design store in Preston South, showcasing Australian art and design. Housed in a warehouse conversion, the interior features a high ceiling and original industrial elements such as exposed trusses, red brick, heavy fire doors, and a rust red-painted concrete floor. The gallery features interactive art installations and is a place to discover unique interior objects, giftware, and jewellery.
I visit Clan Collective often for my own supplies and when I have a gift to buy. ThIs beautiful warehouse style conversion shop and gallery is full of locally made and sourced artisan pieces including beautiful ceramics, resin pieces, silver jewellery, gift cards, incense, herbal teas, locally made jam and so much more. Claire and Dan are so welcoming and generous I highly recommend a visit to their wonderful creative space. You won’t be disappointed.

Preston Library is in Gower St, just off High St,.near the Town Hall. The LIbrary has a wide range of newspapers, including foreign language newspapers. The library also has computers for public use. The monograph copllection is quite extensive (that is, it has lots of books). The Library has a meeting room which can be hired. By the way, it is quite easy to join the library if you have a local connection.Preston Library is a good library for quiet reading and is also useful for research.

Preston Mosque is a house of worship for people of the Islamic faith. The mosque is quite plain; Sunni Muslims to not worship images or statues. Devout Muslims pray five times a day. Friday is the Muslim holy day, many men make an effort to attend Friday prayers. Islam is a monotheistic faith, that is, Muslims have only one God. Mohamed is not a God; he is a Prophet. There is a saying "There is one God, and Mohamed is his Prophet." By the way, if you are interested in Islam, the Victorian Mosques have an open day every year..
