I had toured the Marland Mansion in the late 80’s and loved it so I invited some friends for a revisit. There is so much there to take in and since my first visit a number of the Marlands original furnishings had been returned and/or restored. I enjoy this revisit as much as my friends who were on their first visit. Allow time to tout the first Marland home on Grand as well.

The Marlands lived in this home while the Marland mansion was being built. The house is more typical than the mansion and includes items and displays representing the Marland family and the Marland Oil empire of the 1920's. Seniors pay $4

Sharp's is a combination Indian Trading Post, pawn shop and Western clothing store. They have some antique Indian-made items and as well as newer Indian jewelry, ritual clothing adornments and other handiwork all made by the local tribes - Ponca, Tonkawa and Kaw. The local Native Americans shop here themselves for ritual items for their Pow Wow's and for supplues such as beads to make jewelry and ceremonial items. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We bought several items. Ponca City is somewhat bereft on interesting shops, but Sharp's is a really fine store. They are open weekdays until 5:30pm and on Saturdays until 4:00pm. Closed Sundays.

On the grounds is a 30-foot-high bronze statue of a pioneer woman and her son, the museum honors the women of Oklahoma from the time of the Trail of Tears to the age of women in space. The museum displays typical items found in pioneer homes at the turn of the century, as well as artifacts from the 101 Ranch, home of a famous Wild West Show. Cost is $2.50 for seniors and free for veterans.

The museum is nice shiwcasing art and history from area tribes. The museum runs off donations, its worth it. The park has a wonderful walking trail with exhibitions that explain history of tribes in the area. The states are wonderful to see as well! Definitely worth a visit!
