Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum

Superb, very enthusiastic, and a credit to SA. Yes it a static display. And it needs interpretation. No guide to tell you what you are looking at, and it would be a waste of time. We visited on a day when most of the staff were way at a union meeting. So the place was going to close. But there was a group of trainee tour guides on site and they showed us round! The students were amazed to learn that an area occupied by one house for one of the wives in a krall would have three to four houses in the same area in the UK.

Meropa Casino & Entertainment World

Meropa Casino and Entertainment World is situated in the Limpopo Province only 5km from the capital Polokwane (previously Pietersburg). Polokwane means place of safety and this is characterised by the ancient baobab trees which guard the vast expanses of mountains and bushveld. The Limpopo Province is a land of dramatic contrasts illustrated by the age-old indigenous forests, ancient mountain fortresses and luxury modern day facilities. An area where the juxtaposition of old and new never ceases to amaze, it is a land of legend and romance that will intrigue visitors with tales of ancient tribes and fearless pioneers who braved the unknown in the days of old. To this day the province is the home of the enigmatic rain queen who, as the legend of her people proclaim, has the mystical power to make rain.Much of the land, particularly in the Kruger National Park and other game and nature reserves, is unspoilt providing sanctuary to large numbers of game. And for those who wish to experience the thrill of Africa in a more tangible style, Meropa Casino offers visitors a different adventure.

Contrary to some of the negative reviews, I found the establishment realy great. The hotel is relatively new and the rooms very neat, tastefully decorated, clean and a joy to stay in. The casino staff were extremely friendly and the whole placve had an awesome vibe. I cannot comment on the "Wild Things" as I didn't frequent the place. Myself and our party had a great time racing in the "adult" go-carts which should amuse any young ones should they accompany you. As in all Sun hotels, the breakfast was wonderful with a large variety of choices. I'll definately call there again should I find myself in the region.
