Not only did we get to enjoy tailgating before the opera we were able to go inside have a glass of wine and walk around the grounds taking in all the beautiful views before the sun set gave the opera stage the best backdrop ever. Spectacular views, the opera was alright (Saw an Apprentice showcase- which website failed to give a really good description of) The actors/singers were very talented and the ticket was cheap ($15) so i'm not complaining

The ancestral home of the Santa Clara people may be visited by guided tour to the ruin sites.

Reviewed By Jane D - Madison, Wisconsin

We visited with family and had an interesting and informative time. There is a little museum and film that tells about the area native American culture. They drive you up to the top and you can either ride back down after the tour or climb down the side of the cliff. It is not dangerous but you should be able to handle steep stairs. The guide stays with you.

As an ex-Catholic, it was a little over the top, but obviously is an important place of healing for many. The setting is lovely. It is moving to see the photos and the crutches left in the church as people were "healed." I thought, "What harm?" As my two friends attended mass, I too photos of ice in the little creek nearby. Thousands of rosaries bedeck statues of Mary. It is very funky and beautiful and obviously has been quite meaningful to thousands of people... and if the holy dirt helps my friends with cancer, so much the better.

Nedra Matteucci Galleries

An art gallery specializing in 19th- and 20th-century American art.

We never visit Santa Fe without going to Matteucci Gallery to see its amazing collection of art originals, sculpture, jewelry, outdoor sculptures and its serenely gorgeous walled, back-patio garden. You can walk around the calming running-water pond back there, enjoying the waterfowl, sculpture garden and the awesome gigantic white bark Birch trees.

Even if you never buy a single item, the staff welcome you. Its a no-pressure pleasure to stop by Matteucci at any time of year. Cool in Summer, and festive during the Holidays. Just across the street is the Kakawa Chocolate House and a little further down the road to the north on Paseo de Peralta comes the southern end of Canyon Road.

Tsankawi

Reviewed By LorenzoLorenzo - Boulder, Colorado

Tsankawi is part of Bandelier NP, but easier to get to. It was a home to the Anasazi and their history remains here. We first visited 30+ years ago and it still enchants us. The pathways worn into the soft stone, cave homes and many petroglyphs always amaze us.

A moderate hike. It has several ladders to climb up/down. The sad part is some persons have added carvings & pottery shards have been removed. Most of what you see is hundreds of years old.Look inside the cave homes for wall art.

Unfortunately the NP has had to restrict access to some very interesting areas. But the rock structure can be unstable.

Go early to enjoy the cooler temps and smaller crowds. And bring water.

Our five-year-old son actually found this place through a flyer in the hotel lobby. It's a small place, but big enough to have a great experience. Lots of bugs to see and you will be amazed at the size of some of them. You'll want take the opportunity to hold some of them, something every kid (and adult!) should do! The millipede was the coolest, sort of like Velcro on your hands. The bonus is all the cool reptiles. It's worth an hour or two of your time for sure. Our son talked about all the cool bugs for days after that visit.
