The bubbling, turquoise crystalline pools of Plitvice Lakes National Park comprise one of Croatia's most popular tourist destinations. Just a two-hour drive from Zagreb, the national park offers 50 acres of forest and lake. In winter, it's a wonderland of frozen waterfalls. In summer, the park is lush with greenery. Wooden walkways and hiking trails traverse the porous karst limestone. This World Heritage Site is a veritable wildlife haven, home to everything from birds to boars and even bears.

Sastavci is not "also called" Veliki Slap. They are two different falls. Veliki Slap is the "Great Falls" (i.e., the tallest/highest waterfall in the park). Sastavci is the waterfall below Veliki Slap, that will be on your right as you're heading toward Veliki. Anyway, semantics aside, this waterfall is pretty cool b/c you walk right by/over it. It's especially nice in the morning when the gorge below is misty from the spray of these falls.

Visited over two days and did trail B and trail E. Both excellent and breathtaking views. Start as early as you can as it just gets busier. Terrain nice and easy and nota problem.

One of the prettiest falls in the park, in my opinion. Also, you can pull off the boardwalk here a smidge to linger (as long as it's not crowded, as it very much can be) and get some good photos. Located in the Upper Lakes area of the park, this waterfall is most easily accessed by entering Gate 2, though it's worth it to go to the Lower Lakes area as well. The whole park is beautiful.

Horseback riding/trail riding with a guide in a beautiful countryside of Plitvice valleys, with the possibility of visiting the Barac caves( Braceve spilje) on a horse. We also have riding school lessons and short walks (10,20,...mins) for everyone who's interested in trying out horsebackriding. Experienced and inexperienced riders are welcome. Feel free to just visit our place to enjoy beautiful countryside and our animals.
I've been coming back here for years now and everytime I have a wonderful time. Surrounded by beautiful nature, amazing horses and a lot of different animals it's a paradise for animal and nature lovers :) The owner is very pleasant and friendly, explains everything you need to know of you are not so experienced with riding. This time I visited with my boyfriend who has no experience with horses (I'm pretty experienced rider) and we both had an amazing time ????

Beautiful lake and somewhat less touristy (or at least it seemed that way) than other parts of the park. Easiest to access from Gate 2 (and then after a short ferry ride). Part of the Plitvice Jezera NP experience, so it's sort of a must-see in that regard, but it's also a slightly quieter part of the park as well.

There are three good ways to view the Veliki Slap (also known as The Big Waterfall on the park maps). The view from the top at Ulz Entrance 1 gives the full impression from high across the canyon; the view from the bottom of the falls requires a hike down and across, usually wending around lots of people; and the view from above at the top on the side of P3. Each provides a different appreciation. Earlier and later in the day, when the tour groups have not yet shown up or have disappeared might create a better sense.

If you're entering at Gate 2--and taking the short ferry across to the Upper Lakes area--this will be your second lake. Just as pretty and clear as the rest in the park, though the boardwalk can get a bit congested here depending on what time you go (midday and afternoon).

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia, famous for its numerous turquoise-coloured lakes separated by tufa, or travertine, barriers. Its karst landscape is characterised by specific hydrological traits and exceptional biological diversity, which helped the National Park gain international significance. Magical lakes and waterfalls in Croatia, it was utterly mesmerising, the vivid colours and raw nature walk through the park. We were overwhelmed by the crystal clear waters and exceptionally well maintained park. They have well planned walks for everyone, from a nice relaxed trek from 2 hours to a more expert level of all day. We opted for the 2-3 hour walk and it was perfect to enjoy the wonderful park, a short boat ride and leisurely stroll with magnificent views of the magical lakes and waterfalls. Once you are finished there is a shuttle bus waiting to return you back to the entrance, where you have a short walk back to the carpark. We chose 'Program E' for Easy:-) It starts at the southern entrance to the Park (“Entrance 2”). The tour is circular and includes the area of "Upper Lakes". The program includes a short boat ride across Lake "Kozjak" followed by a walk upstream all the way to Prošćansko Lake. Return to the starting point is by panoramic train. Experience the idyllic beauty of the peaceful and spacious "Upper Lakes" with wooded shores and their most attractive waterfalls "Veliki" and "Mali prštavcima" as well as many smaller waterfalls.

In addition to very nice views as you glide along in the boat, the ride provides a welcome opportunity to rest your feet and legs. The fact that the cost is included in the park entrance ticket makes it extra nice.
