Located at the Pipestone National Monument, the name translates to "jealous maiden" from the Sioux language.
This beautiful waterfall is about midpoint in a 3/4 mile walk at Pipestone National Monument. The stone formations are impressive - so are the twisted trees and prairie grasses. The mist coming off the falls are refreshing. It is a very tranquil and inspiring spot.

The circular trail around pipestone national monument is amazing to see and user friendly. The path is paved and winds around the Native American quarry sites. It is astounding to see that the quarrying is totally done by hand and the pipestone is carved by hand as well. Towards the back there is a waterfall and a variety of interesting rock formations that are surrounded by trees that provide some shade and relief from the heat. There are also benches along the way for resting or just enjoying the prairie views. This monument is free and the visitors center is informative. It’s family friendly as well.

Site of quarries used by Plains Indian tribes.
Ceremonial Sacred site for several American Indian people. This prairie is colored with flowers and each plant has educational markers baking the 3/4 mile trail. The pipestone band quartzite are dazzling. Never would guess this was Minnesota. I enjoyed this as much as any national monument.

During the State emergency declaration for the Corona virus our store will only be open by appointment only, so please contact us. All mail orders will continue to be packaged and sent out. Have a beautiful day. We are a non-profit Tribal run gift shop featuring Tribal art and crafts. We also have a selection of supplies such as raw pipestone, files, beads, leather and more. We carry some herbs, books, tshirt and cards, but our focus are the pipestone carvings, pipes, paintings, beadwork, and quillwork done by mostly local tribal artist. Bud or Rona Johnston are usually around and by appointment you can set up a privet or group workshop for pipestone carving, beadwork, make a drum or dreamcatcher. We also give tours of the Pipetone National Monument.
Beautiful Minnesota grassland, significant because its hills are the second tallest in the state.
