State park and beach area that is located on a peninsula near Bath, Maine.
We spent three days at Popham Beach and loved it. The views are spectacular, you can walk to historic forts and at low tide walk out to a rocky island. It was a little chilly here in early October, but this is definitely a place I would recommend and hope we are able to return to in warmer weather good place to watch a sunset!

On a Sunday morning my wife and I set out to walk the preserve. Joined by many fellow hikers we could appreciate first hand why this place is so popular. The path is easy to navigate, the scenery changes over n over as you traverse through forest, river inlets, and mountain views until opening up to the Atlantic Ocean at its conclusion. A beautiful away to spend a few hours of your time...

Due to COVID , there is no actual access to the Fort. The grounds are nice with available picnic tables and benches. My wife and I had done some previous research so we had an idea of the history of the fort. This gave us an appreciation of it's background as well as the fact the the first sea going vessel constructed by Europeans was built somewhere near here in 1607. It was named the Virginia. We were at the Fort on a beautiful day weather wise and enjoyed a nice picnic at this historic site.
