While researching travel in Alaska, and getting frustrated with trying to make arrangements on my own, I came across Viking's website. What a relief to find a company that would work with me to plan a trip to places I wanted to see! Melanie was very helpful, and patient as we tweaked our plans. She was sensitive to our budget concerns, and even though we planned the trip only two months in advance, she was able to find accommodations in each of the places we wanted to see. Travel connections were seamless. At each stop we were met by the driver who would transport us onward. The hotels were all very nice--some very quaint, others rather ordinary, but all were clean and well-kept. Our trip started in Bellingham, WA and included the Alaska Marine HIghway ferry, flights to Gustavus and Skagway, train and bus to Whitehorse (Yukon) private van to Dawson City and on to Fairbanks, train to Denali, bus to Seward, and back to Anchorage. Wow! What a trip, and NO glitches during our travel. I especially appreciate Melanie's extra effort in re-issuing our vouchers when the USPS lost the originals. I highly recommend this company--and have already passed their information on to friends and family who are thinking of going to Alaska.
