Peru is a town in Bennington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 375 at the 2010 census. Originally known as Bromley, the town name was changed to "Peru" by the land grantees as a way of attracting land buyers to an area that had been described as 36 square miles (93 km) of "trees, bears and mountain lions".

Historic home of Robert Lincoln, only child of President and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood. The estate has beautiful gardens, restored 1903 wooden Pullman palace car, goat farm and cheesemaking facility, 12+ miles of walking trails, teaching greenhouse and cross-country skiing in winter.
My husband just happened on Hildene while poking around online. Our interest in American history has piqued (thanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda!) and as a result we’ve started visiting many points of interest in the Northeast, not all relating to the Revolutionary War. We’ve been to Philadelphia and Valley Forge, Gettysburg, FDR’s home and museum in Hyde Park, NY and Roosevelt Island in NYC.
When we found out that President Lincoln’s son, Robert, his only son to live to adulthood, we knew we had to visit. Hildene is just a few miles from the Equinox Resort on Main Street, our Manchester address. It’s set on 500 acres, and in addition to the home and gardens, there’s also a visitor’s center and gift shop, and a gloriously restored Pullman railroad car because Robert Lincoln was the company’s president for a time.
The home was built in the early 1900s as a family home. We were fortunate to visit at a time of year where visitors were scant, and practically had a private tour. The second floor of the home also has a small museum dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, including his top hat and dressing room mirror, which it is thought, is the last looking glass in which Lincoln looked at his reflection before heading to Ford’s Theater.
Unfortunately, the gardens are rather bare in February, and there’s a working farm with small farm animals, but Spring and Summer are better viewing times for those highlights.

We are The Vermont Country Store, the Purveyors of the Practical and Hard-to-Find. Step back in time as you browse our aisles of long lost products that still work as well today as they did "back in the day!" From countless jars of penny candy to Vermont's finest selections of locally made cheese and meats, to problem-solvers for your household to toys for the littlest ones, you'll feel like you took a step back in time, and become a kid in a candy store when you walk through our doors! Hours for Summer beginning on May 29th 8:30-7:00 daily.
The most unique experience ever. Everything you remember seeing, eating, playing with, products you or your parents used is right there to purchase and relive happy memories. Eat your way through the food section, sampling home made fudge, candies, incredible Vermont cheeses,, crackers, dips, cookies, etc. love that Vermont cheddar.. Great personal care items, as well as, a clothing section. Something new we noticed this year is the Sale loft. The regular prices tend to be a bit higher because you can't find these items in the general marketplace, so nice to see the Sale Section with 50% or more off selected items. ,you could spend hours there.

Winter is for skiers and boarders; summer is for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy a variety of activities including golf and America's longest "Alpine Slide", at this mountain, a favorite with the locals.
As seniors, my wife and I were content to watch our 12 year old twins enjoy the Bromley experience. They especially enjoyed the alpine slide and the water slide.

The biggest single ski mountain in the eastern United States.
Mountain is great! Aside from a few “flat” runs, it’s a great mountain. Only downside is long lines for the lifts. They should install the scanner machines to someone doesn’t have to physically scan each persons ticket.
The village is awesome and very quaint. Nice to walk through after riding all day.
The ski school was great for my 4 year old. He had a blast. We dropped him off in the morning, got ourselves ready and waited for the lifts to open it was nice to know he was in good hands while we went on our own.

Came across this little gem on our recent trip through New England. Nothing fancy, but very enjoyable. More than reasonable rates, nice and quiet. Yes, Rt. 7 runs nearby and you can hear it...but it is situated away from most other built up areas. The town of Manchester isn't far, and offers some great restaurant choices if you want a break from campfire meals. The lake itself is simply outstanding...cool, clear, and not terribly crowded even on the weekend we were there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The campsites are well maintained and surprisingly private for how close most are. I would highly recommend Emerald Lake SP!

Rides leave on the hour from Landgrove Inn. Wagon, Sleigh and Carriage rides.
Enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage through the snow, with our group of grandparents, small children and all ages in between. The very nice, polite young people who handled the reins told us about working on a farm, the hurricane of summer 2011 and answered our questions about Vermont.
The scenery was beautiful, we crossed a stream, passed some horses in a meadow, went through an old apple orchard.
They provided blankets (which we needed). I'd highly recommend this activity, especially if you're from out-of-town. Wear boots and warm layers.

We stopped by for some farmstead cheese and most cheeses in the case were made elsewhere. We did purchase some of their smoked gouda and it was good, but nothing we would return to purchase. Being very familiar with farms and farm life we understand the smells associated with them, but the odors in the store nearly made us leave before buying anything. They could use a decent cleaning in a store that serves the public.

We have been here for apple season in the past as well as raspberries, and this year cherries. The apples were great tasting (try not to miss the honey crisps when they are in season) and we definitely enjoyed the cherries and raspberries. The location offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The owners love their orchard and are extremely friendly and helpful. They keep their website up to date with conditions so you know what fruit is available before you go.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company produces a wide variety of live shows in picturesque Weston, VT. Bring the whole family! There's something for everyone on our stage.
Splendid summer theater.
Magnificent infrastructure and view of the stage.
Terrific Production of the script (this was Eugene O'Neill's 'Long Day's Journey into Night')
See the photos. Original building replaced (burnt down 1962) and rebuild has large lobby, vestibule, sitting room, porch to comfortably wait in.
I'm not an expert or opinionated, so I see top quality actors really into the script. I've heard (and been here before for a musical) nothing bad about the production or actors.
Lots of aside width! Be carful walking to your seat as the side aisles are not step-down but instead slanted downwards. Also, when you stand up from your seat, stand awhile you adjust to the slant.
Also, the seat number, to be certain, is on the underneath of the seat.
Parking is difficult in Weston. Parking around the Green fills up an hour early. Be aware. (Our day we went was heavy rain and too cool for summertime.)

We stayed in Weston fiirst week of February 2013 intending to do some cross country skiing but hardly any snow after big rains the week before. We checked the ski reports, and Wild Wings claimed to be open, so we went. What a neat place. They had just enough snow to allow for a good workout. They have good rental equipment, an out door potty, a warming shed, and later in the day a bunch of kids from a local school learning to ski. The people working there were very service oriented and made our visit very pleasant. There is no comparison between your experience here wit the husle and bustle of the big modern ski areas.
