We've been there many time, but this one was terrible. Outdoor bartenders were inexperienced. One ask a gentleman what he ordered 4 times. I wanted to answer for him. Then they walked around with their food looking for whoever ordered it. Almost lost. Even asking us. And we didn't even have a # on our table for food. Then told them where they can find silverware and napkins. Like they couldn't bring them? Then a staff member setting up tables. Just threw the chairs, and tossed the tables into place. Very load and obnoxiously. I ask him if he could quiet down. I received an eye roll. We left and went to another winery that appreciated our business.

Highly recommend this tour! Beautiful scenery, calm waters, and Avery is a very knowledgeable, friendly guide. Avery made us feel comfortable and explained all the turns and procedures for crossing the channel. We ended the tour with a close up of a huge bald eagle,

Nice little boat ride. Friendly staff. The food was OK. But-- the portions of food were very small if you are a big eater. My roast beef was very good but for me I didn't get any where near full. The waitress on our cruise was the cutest thing ever. She was the best thing on the cruise (no, no, no. It's not what your thinking. We are a group of 5 married couples and not a bunch of weirdos).

The Old Lady altered the route of our road trip just to come to the Little House Wayside. Having read Little House in the Big Woods many times to the children while they were growing up, even our teenagers didn't mind stopping. The cabin in set on a picturesque hill. There are flowers and large grassy areas for picnicking. The cabin visit was something The Old Lady has been wanting for years and she wasn't disappointed. It may appear to be just an unfinished cabin but it gave a reality and deeper appreciation of the way of life for Laura Ingalls and her family at that time. The Old Lady is thrilled to have made "the pilgrimage," as she called it, and is now the envy of several of her friends for being there.

A beautiful facility and very educational. The eagle show in the classroom was fascinating and well done by the staff member.

We stopped by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum before going to the cabin. The entry fee is expensive for what you get but for Ingalls fans, it is almost acceptable. The museum is more about the life in Pepin at the time the Ingalls were there. There is a good selection of items owned by Laura's teacher. The replica of the wagon Laura and her family traveled in was stunningly small. The idea the Ingalls traveled so far with all their belonging in a wagon as small as this one was stunning. They also have a tax receipt issued to Charles Ingalls that put some humor into the visit for anyone that has had to pay property tax. The museum gave a healthy dose of reality to the life people led at the time of the stories. Yes, there are bathrooms in the museum.

We visited Pepin Heights recently on a gorgeous fall day. It's not an apple orchard in the sense of having trees to look at and apples to pick yourself, but the shop is filled with many varieties of apples, some baked goods (which weren't great -- tasted like they were frozen & warmed up instead of home made), jams/jellies, gourmet popcorn (fantastic!), and various other seasonal and apple-based products. (The apple lip-balm sold by the cash register is great!)
The store prices seemed reasonable. I wish they would label the bags of apples better so you could more easily remember what you bought when you get into cooking/eating them.
Easily found on the highway south of Lake City.

Ideal location for spotting eagles in early spring.
This was our first trip to check out the eagles. I didn't know what to expect but was so happy we went. We sat at a couple of the pullouts on hwy 61 and watched eagles for hours. We counted at least 50 or more. Most were at a distance on the ice shelf in the river but we did see some fly directly over our car. Huge wing span for sure. We saw one right in Lake City by the park bring a fish close to us and he sat in the tree and ate it. Great weekend and it was warm too so that made it even better.

I used to fish Lake Pepin as a child and wanted to share the experience with my son and cousins. Cliff not only got us onto bass topping the water chasing minnows he got us consistently catching BIG fish. We had a range of talent. Cliff patiently shared his equipment and expertise - from teaching how to cast and move the lures to how to locate the best casting spots. EVERYONE caught big fish. Cliff, himself, was so much fun too. Our time with Cliff will go down as one of the best times we have ever had together. Added bonuses are being out in nature with lots of eagles in one of the most scenic spots in America.
