This is a 15-hectare area on the edge of Puyo that was reforested with the most important trees for medicine and other uses by the indigenous people. Come to learn about these plants, these cultures, to improve your health with these, to reduce your impact on the environment, to buy handicrafts made by the indigenous people, or just breathe fresh air and have contact with nature. This is a safe thing to do during the Coronavirus Pandemic, since we are outside with lots of air flow. The guides may take off their masks to visitors can hear them, but we ask the visitors to keep their face masks or shields on, plus we try to keep at least 2 meters between people who do not live together. In addition, we have natural medicine for many things, including Coronavirus.

Knowing the story of the 5 men martyred in 1956, we have a special interest in the house the pilot, Nate Saint, and his family occupied. There are many pictures, some artifacts from long ago and a small display with Indian handicrafts that are for sale. If you call ahead you can even get a short history explained to you.

This is really well worth a visit. Set within lovely grounds, with many trees, shrubs etc. Good footpaths and interesting areas with streams, pools etc. Very interesting to see the abundance of wildlife in seemingly natural surroundings was a delight to see. Good to be able to identify the different animals, birds and reptiles up close. Very well kept areas.

I spent a week there with my family helping out as volunteers It was amazing: unique environment in a superb amazonian forest with a river flowing through, great and diversified activities to help out the fantastic animals that are being rescued there The hosts are truly passionate about their cause and very warm and welcoming Other visitors also share the same passion Easy to go from / to the city A must-see/go

Store: Huge selection of items in bulk quantities at fair prices. We travel regularly to Ecuador to purchase trade goods for resale in the U.S. Casa de la Balsa is on our list of regular stops. Hostal: Clean, secure & private rooms. Ask for a room facing away from the street. There must be a bakery back there because every morning around 4:00am the smell of baking bread will drift into your room.

We volunteered here for three weeks and had a fabulous time. The ownwers are dedicated to the animals and receive no funding from anywhere so all your donations will help benefit the animals. Well worth a visit if in Puyo. Take your swimming costume as well as there is a great pool, very reasonably priced food and drinks at the restaurant.

We are a Centre that shelter wild animals coming from the illegal trade and some other types of slavery situations by humans. Here, in the ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, we try to provide them a natural sanctuary for their improvement and in this way to approach the chance of releasing them into their habitat. Currently we work with volunteers from all over the world who support our work
