This area has changed a lot since I went here 40 - 45 years ago!! If I remember right the place got it's name during the Civil War. When Union troops would take some R&R in this area and the "Ladies of the Night" would spend that time with them. Nuff said! Lots of beautiful fauna and a good place for bird watching. There are some rare species of plants to be found here as well. Nice place to enjoy a warm weather day with the family - minus the "Ladies of the Night"!

Oregon Ridge is my families go to spot for a walk in the woods along the many well marked trails. The park hosts various festivals like the honey festival and the maple syrup /pancake breakfast festival where they provide educational and fun family acticvities.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore is an urban two-story casino with a 122,000 sq. ft. gaming floor. The multi-million development will feature VLTs, table games and a World Series of Poker room. A 20,000 sq. ft. "Baltimore Marketplace" featuring authentic Charm City food outlets, three premier restaurants, and several bars and lounges will round out the food and beverage offerings. The $400 million development will be located along Russell Street on Baltimore's south side. As an urban casino, it will be designed to maximize connectivity with existing hospitality operators, neighboring professional sports venues M&T Stadium (NFL-Ravens) and Camden Yards (MLB-Orioles) and the city's famed Inner Harbor.
Just not a fun place. Unless you are sitting at the bar you can't get timely drinks wherever you gamble....slots, table games, etc. I don't understand....the drinks are not complimentary. Why wouldn't they hire more waitresses? I believe an hour plus wait for someone to come around is absurd. When you pass by the slot machine area you hardly ever hear

You can spend all day on the trails out here, but I would download the AllTrails app so you can keep track of where you are. We got hiking on a trail and did not realize that it was a 6 mile trail before it connected with another one. There were lots of bikers on the trails, most of them are narrow so you will have to move over when bikers are coming through. Trails are well marked on the trees, but since these trails are so long, I would never do this on my own.
Unfortunately, there is an entry fee per person to come to the park – fee includes weekends and holidays

Pick up your natural food supplies at this popular store.
Locals know Graul's as a local store. Brides know that Graul's is a top place to order your cake from. (Unbelievable bakery) But I want to share a catering experience we had. I had to host family and friends for a funeral wake. Grau's is close and professional. I had never hosted anything like this before and they walked me through everything step by step. How much i would need, how it could be served. Graul's delivered right on time and everything was perfect! They thought of everything. We ordered "ring sandwiches" which were maybe 12" in diameter, braided bread with different fillings. They looked so nice set out and tasted delicious. All the other "salads" came ready to go with serving utensils, etc. They arranged platters of bite size treats for desserts, brownies, lemon squares, etc. But the nicest thing was, the driver left a small box in our kitchen all wrapped up filled with lemon bars with a hand written note from Graul's saying that they heard the lemon bars were out favorite and these were a gift from them with their condolences on our loss. Sounds silly, but that meant so much to me at the time.
I do shop at Graul's esp. their bakery (yum!) deli (fresh!) meats and fish. I'm loyal!

Everything is home cooked and deliciously made by the Amish. I love this place! Homemade everything...and very well done. I love stopping by most of the booths...prepared seafood entrees to go, hot pretzels, fresh vegetables very well priced, and the most amazing traditional bakery full of home baked goodies. The Amish country brought to us in Hunt Valley. A must stop a couple of times a month for our family.

We were treated like low class people. My wife is a doctor and I am a landscape architect, and way above average in asset accumulation.

We are a non-profit, charitable, 501(c)(3) corporate Museum with programs and resources available to all interested in exploring the multi-layered significance of the Negro Leagues Baseball Teams, Players, Owners and Coaches; in addition to their contributions to baseball generally, and the African-American culture specifically.
Though the space at the library/college is small it does give you an understanding of the Negro Leagues. You learn about this part of baseball history that focuses on both the entertainment found in enjoying the sport, but you also appreciate that people were forced to play in a league only for one race. Some did make it to the Major Leagues, but many never were given the chance. And for a number of players their best years were behind them. I liked the photos and objects that illustrated this period. I was only a child of 4 years old when Jackie Robinson came to the Major Leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Later when I understood more about people, both the good and bad, I could never understand why some people were not allowed to be judged solely on their talents.
