Who would have thought about visiting dinosaur tracks in Portugal? Not us! These particular tracks are off the beaten path - no one there but us and 4 other tourists. You can walk right along the tracks. Loved it.

I was so surprised and impressed with my visit to Fatima, the church in itself is impressive and huge, but the whole surroundings gives a lot of peace and respect for the beliefs of thousands of pilgrims.

The house "Ginginha The Castle" is a business for almost 100 years. From traditional old grocery store, in 1993 it became the Bar - Traditional Tavern "Ginjinha The Castle", making it one of the landmarks to visit for those in the historical area of Ourém. Taste the traditional cherry liqueur and treat yourself!
Just in front of the church and on the way to the castle, you have the old house who is called the "Ginginha The Castle" . This old shop is existing already for more than a 100 years. In that time it was a traditional old grocery store, which you will see on the interior with still the original old balcony etc. But in the year 1993 it got turned into a Bar - Traditional Tavern "Ginjinha The Castle", make a short stop over in the shop, you will like it, after you have taste the traditional cherry liqueur!

Our hotel owner suggested we spend the late afternoon there after arriving from Tomar. What a view all the way to Fatima, and what a well preserved gem of a XIIth century castle! You cannot go in but walking around is atmospheric and free. The medieval village underneath is beautiful too. I was surprised to see how deserted the place was, given its beauty and charm.
