While spending the weekend in New Bern, my wife and I made the quick 40-min drive over to Oriental to rent a small catamaran from Bow to Stern

We arrived a little earlier than our appointment and Jim and his team were putting the finishing touches on assembling the Hobie 16. They specialize in mono-hull crafts, but do have the one Hobie.

There was no wind (<3 kts) that morning, so Jim offered to tug us out to more open waters, which we accepted. We were given life jackets and a radio in case we encountered trouble.

Oriental is a great place to do sailing and we were please at how few powerboats there were on such a beautiful day. We even saw a 1/2 dozen dolphins right off our bow.

We gave Jim a time when we were trying to return, and when he hadn't heard from us, he and his family came out and tugged us back into his marina.

I wish it were windier that day, but that's not their fault. I would recommend them to anyone!

The owners are really gracious. Their chef really knows his craft. My husband and I were their first customers. We had fun yesterday watching the cardboard boat races. The owners enjoy giving back to the community with events benefiting non-profits. There is a band playing on weekends. With the tiki bar, good food and draft beer and friendly people you will definitely have a good time.

My wife and I decided that we wanted to learn how to sail. Grace Harbor Water Sports provides American Sailing Association classes and offers classes geared especially for couples. Out classes were taught by a great couple (Stephanie and Derrek) who patiently taught us the ropes (or should I say sheets). We finished our first to ASA courses and look forward to learning with Stephanie and Derrek for our next 3 courses in the winter. It was an all round enjoyable experience.

We are an artisinal winery producing French hybrid varietals such as Norton, Blueberry, Blackberry, and Mead as well as other grape wines using grapes and honey from our premises or procured locally. Our gift shop has hand-painted wine glasses, quilted table linens, Croghan Bologna from upstate NY, and many other hand crafted items.

Reviewed By BoltzMan - San Juan Capistrano, California

This is a very special and gentle winery, with a very non-commercial feel to it. Wines are from grapes grown yards away, and the owners live on site. This all gives it a very small-village European feel to the vineyard and winery, which is located close to Oriental, NC. The wines are very carefully made, fruity generally, and reasonably priced. No, you're not going to find a gold medal merlot (I may be wrong!) but you're going to find wines you enjoy drinking with friends. That's what wine is about.
