Great place.. The waiting area is very picturesque, the place in itself if very elegant. The seats were very comfortable with ample room for everyone. No matter where you sat the view was great.

This is a beautiful Cathedral in the heart of Omsk. I didn't go inside but walked around the outside on a couple of occasions.
I think if you have come from Moscow you may be a little underwhelmed as Moscow has bigger and grander cathedrals however it is a nice little stop to break up the trans Siberian Railway journey.

Place to do good photos. Not difficult to find (if it's not under the snow). Across the street you can find more monuments where it's possible to make good photos.

I really really liked this one. Of course it's highly subjective, but from interesting statues scattered around cities I found Lyuba very interesting and pretty. She has a fairy-tale like quality to her.

When you walk through the barriers you immediately feel overwhelmed by the massive paintings of players on either side and the towering balcony above. All around there is noise and life and cheerleaders and souvenirs. And once inside the rink, the wall of Avangard flags and supporters is impressive. As a stadium its probably more suited to shows than hockey because the seats rise gradually and the higher rows are quite far from the ice, but the seats are comfy and there is a good view.

Nice place where there is in spring 2012 a spectacular exposition about Anatoly Konenko's micro-art!

Just after arriving in Omsk and having to have some papers translated I walked into the library and was welcomed with open arms. Been a native English speaker I was invited immediately to join the International English club and I have had a ball of a time with the group and some people in the group.
Omsk is surprisingly full of interesting venues like a smallish beach, wonderful river to swim in, forest walks and mushroom hunting. Include all the other fine art attractions it has to offer like a wonderful Theaters . Also intimate theater productions where, ballerina's sometimes dances up to 1 meter away if you are sitting in the first row and you have an amazing ensemble of attractions.
I am in love with this place and would love to stay. And yes, the most beautiful part is winter when everything is whiter than white, small crystals of ice drift against the sunlight which is warm and yellow against an azure blue sky. What a place to be!

This monastery is easily accessed by public transport just outside Omsk and is well worth a visit, particularly in the summer when you can enjoy a dip in the sacred waters.

Hard to find and overwhelmed by trees but still worthwhile. From the Seraphim Chapel cross the bridge and turn right. I don't know if they ever get direct sunlight so don't expect a good photo.
