The Yadkin River Greenway is a linear pedestrian park and biking trail running along the river from Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir, through the towns of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro, NC to Smoot Park, a distance of 10 miles. As of 2017 about 8 miles have been completed. Much of the greenway is included in the Overmountain Victory Historic Trail, a U.S. National Park.
The Yadkin River Greenway offers a pleasant dose of nature right in the middle of town. There are currently seven sections of greenway, some of them quite short. Here's a preview of the best ones: -The unpaved Jefferson Turnpike section follows the path of an old log flume up the Reddies River. It's 2.7 miles out-and-back. You'll find tall trees, a slow moving stream and plenty of peace and quiet on this stretch. -The greenway's red section links Memorial and Smoot Parks in North Wilkesboro. It's 2.4 miles out-and-back. It traces the one of the Yadkin's faster flowing stretches. It's a great place to see waterfowl and wildflowers. -The green Mulberry Fields section follows the Yadkin and Reddies Rivers from West Park to West D Street. It's about three miles out-and-back. A spur crosses the river and climbs up the route of an old carriage trail to historic Wilkesboro. The Health Foundation has installed outdoor exercise equipment for adults at the West Park trail head. This section is handy for cyclists headed from one town to the other. -The blue section skirts the edge of River's Edge Park in Wilkesboro from the YMCA to the Wilkesboro town shop. It's about four miles out-and-back. Several connecting trails are currently in the works. The River's Edge Park section will eventually run all the way to Wilkes Community College, the Mulberry Fields section will be continuous from West Park to Smoot Park.

We took a day trip specifically to visit this shop. When we arrived the owner, Jody, greeted us and was very friendly. I was amazed at how much and how varied the items he had were, We looked around everywhere while we made our way back to the long boxes. He has an entire wall of the newer issues of comics and the expected Star Wars, Marvel, DC figures, but he also had all sorts of retro figures like Masters of the Universe, tons of wrestling figures, misc old toys...so much to look at! While it is clean and organized with decent aisle space, I can tell you there is not much empty wall or shelf space. I mean that in a good way. He has so much cool stuff to look at! I helped my hub browse through the doz. or so 1.00 back issue boxes then moved on to look around some more. The shop does sell limited gaming supplies, but does not currently do gaming. We were able to find several items and a good number of back issues for my hub's collection. Jody was very nice and we really enjoyed our visit. We will definitely be back.
