Walk down the hill from Dinas Cross to the beach. There's a nice pub/restaurant to refuel in. Then around Dinas Head to the old church. A couple of hours well spent.

Llwyngwair Riverbank Adventure Golf

Reviewed By elinorw2013 - Cardiff, United Kingdom

Had the most wonderful afternoon with the family playing adventure golf at Llwyngwair Manor. The course itself was immaculate with so many lovely, natural features. As a family of four it took us just under an hour. Excellent booking through facebook messenger. Speedy response and very safe procedures when we arrived. Bookings are every 20 minutes so there is enough distance between you and the other families. While the golf was a first class experience and great value for money in itself, what we didn’t expect was to be entertained for the next 2 hours at Llwyngwair Manor. As it was such a lovely afternoon we walked the river up towards where the touring caravans are parked. The children loved playing on the yew tree and spent ages playing with the stones by the river. We walked along the river to the end of the tourers and then came back through the woodland walk. Bluebells and wild garlic a plenty, although not fully in colour yet. Llwyngwair Manor has so much to offer if your little ones enjoy being outside with nature. We will definitely return. Thank you so much for a fun filled afternoon.

Pentre Ifan

Reviewed By Emishere13 - Gainesville, United States

We drove in from South Wales, and the scenic view was amazing! We went to visit the chamber in the later part of the afternoon, so it was very quiet (we heard it can be quite busy). No other visitors were there, and that made our short stay more enjoyable. Parking for several cars available at the nearby layby. It's a short walk to the burial chamber, which has stunning views of the surrounding hillsides. You can walk right up to the chamber and even touch the stones. The area is very well kept. Definitely a must see.

You can drive here and park on the beach! Or walk from Newport easily, wading across the Parrog at low tide or a bit of a longer walk across the bridge and estuary path at any time. The beach has toilets, cafe with gorgeous ice cream, coffee, hot choc, sandwiches etc. Safe swimming with lifeguard lookouts, big beach so never feels crowded.

Carreg Coetan Burial Chamber

Reviewed By Nonsuch-Delight - London, United Kingdom

This is a rather special monument to visit, as part of a much longer walk. It is nestled in its own private garden, hidden from the road, down a residential street. Beautifully maintained, well worth a visit. We just incorporated it as part of exploring Newport, and a walk along the estuary.
