This place is fantastic for anyone who loves the outdoors. Lots of hiking trails to choose from. Great topography and views. We were there on a Saturday and it was not crowded. Put on your walking shoes, grab your kids and get outdoors. Note there is a fee. $4 adults an $3 for kids 2-12, but worth it.

Vindemia is a family owned and operated winery in Temecula beautifully nestled on the Temecula hillside with the perfect blend of European style and a casual Southern California feel. Priding themselves on growing and harvesting their grapes and olives to bring out the best ripeness in the fruit for crafting quality wines and quality olive oil with estate olives.
A very expensive tasting, considering the tasting shack and quantity poured for tasting. For our group of six, also a very slow tasting, as not that much wine to taste, and long intervals...
Very different and very expensive wines, also, so the old truth: asking high prices is not crazy, paying is...
A clear 'Tripadvisor disappointment', as no match for the rating.

Roadside parking is sparse, and you need decent shoes to hike in - I also recommend viewing Tenaja Falls during wetter weather, lest you find a trickle rather than a torrent. For the best viewing experience visits tend to be muddy.
Setting that aside, such places (like Fish Canyon above Alhambra) are rare, local treats. Truly something that only a local will know, be prepared to bring a picnic lunch and you WILL enjoy yourself. I recommend the book "California Weird", which is a huge tome of such unheralded places like the Teepee Motel and the Bagdad Café off of the old Route 66 and more.
If you only enjoy mob scenes like Disneyland on a three day weekend, delights like Tenaja Falls in the hills and canyons above Murrieta near Temecula will leave you disappointed. However, if the idea of seeking out something that the vast majority of local denizens have no idea even exists, then the Tenaja Falls are for you. It costs nothing but gas and an otherwise humdrum afternoon.
But remember, a visit involves some physical activity. Judge your readiness for yourself. I am a Senior Citizen, and I enjoyed it immensely. But the, I tandem sky dived in 2016, so what do I know?

Rock Fitness is a Rock Climbing gym and much more! It also has a full gym area, volleyball/basketball court, fitness classes, slackline, highline, trampoline cageball, and a well stocked outdoor gear shop.
Grandkids had a great time here. Many different levels of skill. Load music played. Kids love it but us grand parents not so much.

As far as old towns go, I am not impressed. Too much seems contrived. A few nice bars and restaurants. Some cute shops. It's fine, but I wouldn't drive a long way to go there.

Located at Murrieta Town Square between City Hall and the Murrieta Police Department this memorial is marked with a large 5 sided obelisk with a brass plaque of each service embedded in the granite, topped with a painted US flag. There are also free standing monuments to WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars. Also located here is the Field of Honor during Veterans day where over 2000 American flags are displayed. There is also an honor garden that is embedded with tiles with veterans names, all proceeds benefit the construction and maintenance of this memorial. This memorial is a work in progress and should get better as the years progress.
