Upon disembarkation from our cruise ship, we tried the circular "city bus" transportation means, may be provided by the cruise agent here, to explore different parts of the city. Cape Chikyu was one of the "must see" tourist spot while travelling in Muroran. When you climbed up the flight of steps, you could see the lighthouse and the cliffs around. You could snapshoot beautiful photos around the area before you leave for other destinations.

Found this little slice of heaven by chance while looking for somewhere a little more interesting to do the final dives for a PADI Open Water course. Great coastline, only a few tetrapods! The beach has a lot of storm debris and a few derelict houses on it, but is quite beautiful anyway.
Park on the grass off the road and follow the path with the railing down to the beach; abt 200 meters.
The south end has a very good dive through the kelp-covered boulders, out to a mini-wall near the point with soft corals, tunicates, fans, fish and even nudibranches! Around the point is a second wall and overhang with good fish life and great colors. Max depth is 14m, but most is less than 10. Surgy at the point, but no dangerous currents encountered in 4 dives over 2 days.

If you're traveling with kids, this place is a good stop to let your kids have some fun. Apart from the aquarium displaying all types of sea creatures, you will find children's rides like any small sized fun park. Admission to the aquarium is 300 yen for adults, free for small children. At 11 am, the park will put on a Penguin parade where you can get really close to the cute little penguins.

The Tori Gate opposite the tourist centre (old railway station - wifi hotspot) suggests there's something up the long flight of steps beyond. There is - it's another flight of steps. It's worth the climb as the temple and stone lanterns at the top are beautiful. The views over the bay are great.

This place has lots of history and its preserved well. The people in information desk were super helpful and warm. The only negative point would be its far from the JR station which makes its less convenient. This place was a station and has history so place couldn't be changed so, its nice place with wonderful people.

We have visited the Exhibition Mall on the Hakucho Bridge in order to obtain more information concerning the bridge construction. Entrance to the mall was free. There was two floors inside, with the ground floor as souvenir shop/rest room/sitting areas and the upper floor for exhibition purpose. You could take pictures of the bridge from the second floor as well. Descriptive materials including models could be found upstairs. You could also took pictures on the steel works used on this suspension bridge both from the exhibition hall and the frontage of the mall.
