The National Archives at Atlanta is a center for the study of the history of the South, a diverse region rich with family tradition. Native Americans were living on the land when the first settlers arrived. African slaves were then brought over, and later came Irish, English, Italian, Russian, and Cuban immigrants. Their stories, told in the seemingly incongruous records of the federal government, provide evidence of the universal human drama that is American family life. Records in the National Archives tell the story of southern families and communities, technological advances that changed lives, and social and economic forces that shaped the makeup of our society.

This is a great place to walk, reflect and spend time with the family. It allows you to be nice and cool even on the hottest of days. The majority of the trails are completely shaded by trees. You can see all kinds of birds, insects, and occasionally a deer or two. I love taking my children here for quality time together getting back to nature.

Spivey Hall, located on the campus of Clayton State University, is a 400-seat, acoustically-superior performing arts venue that has presented the best in jazz and classical music to the metro Atlanta area since 1991. Its celebrated concert series receives regular national and international attention as one of America's finest, and the Hall's acoustics and design are routinely lauded by patrons, pundits and performers. Thanks to frequent appearances on American Public Media's "Performance Today," as heard on public radio stations across the country, the hall has earned a national reputation while also reaching an international audience through exposure in such publications as BBC Music magazine and International Arts Manager. The Hall also routinely receives superb accolades from the noted artists it annually presents. "Spivey is the best of the newer small halls in America," says concert pianist Steven Blier, while jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis believes "Spivey Hall is the most fantastic little performance hall I have played - ever!" In addition to a world-renowned concert series, Spivey Hall has an innovative approach to education-outreach, which has resulted in the formation of the award-winning Spivey Hall Children's Choir and the newer Spivey Hall Young Artists. Its Young People's Concerts series won the prestigious Abby Award for arts education in Atlanta in 1998.
I've been to Spivey Hall a number of times over the past twenty years, though the distance from our Tennessee home makes it less frequent for this venue south of Atlanta. The acoustics are among the best of any concert hall I have been in and the seating is extremely comfortable. Of course, Kenny Barron is one of the top jazz masters of today and his diverse set, including compositions of his own, his bandmates and standards was thoroughly enjoyable. Regardless of the type of concert one attends at Spivey Hall, the listener will be impressed.

We planned an outing to the movies and dinner to celebrate my Mom's 66th birthday. I had pre purchased the tickets AND the popcorn/sodas so we were all set. Getting into the theater was a breeze;no lines. Our snacks were ready for pickup at the time we'd specified, so we were able to pick up and go. The theater was clean and the movie was great. Needless to say, Mom truly had a ball y'all!!!
