At Silver Fork's Tasting Room, we will provide tasting flights of our wine that will also include a souvenir glass. With each sip, guests can learn about the terroir 'taste of the place', the varietal and wine making notes. Surrounded by beautiful views of our vineyard and the South Mountains. Come stay, enjoy and relax.
Enjoyed a tasting of their bordeaux style wines, then sipped a glass of dry Spanish-style rose' on their patio overlooking the vineyards. All their varietals were very drinkable & the venue was perfect for a summer afternoon. Looking forward to our next visit.

Not really much to say about the Greenway,it's a Greenway.
It's family friendly and more than one place to access it ( Judges Riverside Restaurant,Hwy 18 towards Lenoir,River Village across from the Post Office). It takes you through a few eating paces along the way and along side the river.
Everybody from Bikers, walkers and joggers use it and everyone is nice.

This thriving family business is nestled in the picturesque foothills of the South Mountains and features activities for all ages: you can enjoy a wagon ride through the orchard, pick your own apples, taste homemade goods from our bakery, or browse through the Country Store.
We stopped and bought some yummy apples and the apple slushie and the apple cider doughnuts were so good!!

Fantastic playground with the wooki type playground with lots of bridges, climbing walls, rope walks and slides. I take my grandson several afternoons a week after school. Great place to let him get all that energy out. There is also hugh picnic shelters, a biking trail along the Greenway, volleyball courts and lots of open space.

I must stop place when in Morganton. I don't want to recommend any specific beers because it will change depending on when you go. The people that run this place know their beer. Atmosphere is very relaxing and the people serving will put you on the right beer for your taste. You can get pints and half pints.

Stop here anytime and have your choice of a great selection of craft beers while enjoying a great group of people. Occasionally there's live music and you can bring your own food. This is a wonderful place to relax, meet new friends and enjoy great beer.

My wife and I have been around this square a hundred times, first time visit on June Friday night for music, very nice, lots of fun.
The square is nice, like those in Wisconsin towns we liked. the courthouse and ground are kept up, clean, well maintained. At this event there were police to insure rules were kept, a good thing. Everyone had a great time. Overall it is a nice square, could use some more time and money for gardens, landscaping, some more nice trees would be nice, so would public restrooms.

The museum contains two floors of galleries and exhibits artifacts that depict the colorful history of Burke County.
North Carolina is blessed with museums big and small. This one has emphasis on Burke County and WNC since the American Revolution, but also strongly to life in the mountain area and piedmont region of the 19th and 20th centuries. All American wars are remembered and veterans honored, but everyday living is a central theme throughout. Special exhibits of high quality are created by the all-volunteer staff. Tours can easily take about two hours and are guided by locals. Well worth your time. Interesting that a museum of old stuff is housed in the former City Hall dated to the contemporary 1960's. Founded around 2000-2002, the museum now also serves as a pro-active link for all county history groups. Burke has perhaps a more signicant American revolutionary history than the American Civil War. The museum also focuses on the role of industrial development in WNC 1890 -1970. Though not a central theme to this museum, the Museum of Burke County is currently involved with the Exploring Joara Foundation that is the lead local history organization promoting and developing education and exhibits, and the on-going discovery of the Spanish explorer presence with its permanent settlement 450 years ago in the Catawba valley that predates the widely known English "Lost Colony" of Sir Walter Raleigh by some 20 years.
This museum as with many others depends on local financial gifts, member supporters, and volunteers. Staff by a dedicated group of founders and mostly seniors in age, the next generation of volunteers is greatly needed.
While this review is unsolicited by the museum leadership, I am biased as a member supporter, and prior volunteer in its early days. The evolution of this museum with its quality, along with its commitment to educating young and old over some 15 years is as remarkable as is the history to be treasured.

Family owned farm. Pick your own Blueberries. Fall Pumpkin and Hayrides. Jams & Jellies, Ice Cream, Farm Animals & Education opportunities.
If you're looking for fresh and delicious blueberries, this is the palce to go, a working farm. Simply buy your berries or pick your own fresh blueberries from the massive number of bushes on this farm when available and in season. This is a working farm that's educational for the young and young at heart. We did both, purchased one gallon and picked some with instruction and assistance. Near Lake James just off of highway 126, a visit here would make a nice morning or afternoon adventure. Other locally produced "goodies" are also available at the "red barn" to purchase. Enjoy!! Staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable.

Located in the Catawba River Valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Burke County is situated in the rolling landscape of western North Carolina. Stop by the Burke Visitor Center for all the information you need to relocate or vacation here!
Without Jerry, we would have been lost, what a gentleman. The center is organized and there is plenty of information for any activities you might have up your little sleeves. It is very well located , easy in , easy out .
