Pleasant tasting experience. Very nice Petite Sirah that was dark and flavorful but not an over the top heavyweight. Good with a steak. Their Meritage red was also quite good with nice fruit and a peppery spicy clove like finish. Sparkler was good but a little sweet for my taste. Did not enjoy the rose' or Chardonnay. The Pinot was a bit subdued for my taste. Alan was a helpful host. Didn't buy anything. Would go back.

We went to Coyote Valley Sporting Clay. Is a very professional place. It has two sports shooting areas. The main course has over 20 stations of various difficulties from beginner to challenging. Many were there.
One drives to the range through some scenic farm land where we saw turkeys and large cows.

Sycamore Creek makes a fairly wide variety of small-scale wines at very reasonable prices. I typically pay $15-25 for wines I normally see for $25-35. The rural setting is adjacent to a Thousand Trails campground. I have been a wine club member for about 3 years. Members-only events happen around 6 times a year, including tasting (of course), a quality catered meal or BBQ, live music, some tables offering craft/jewelry items and food items like jams or chocolates, and outdoor seating in the patio area. Sip your wine, enjoy your lunch, listen to the music, and enjoy the scenery.
The tasting room staff always greet me by name, and are very knowledgeable about the wines. At the appropriate time of the year, passport events will likely include barrel tasting. It's a sneak preview of what the next vintage of that varietal may be like when it matures.
'Normal' days (not member-only or passport events) don't have the food, crafts, or music. Just a more relaxed tasting opportunity.

Large Blue Chair grabs your attention - maybe 8 times scale Adirondack chair for children to climb on with other playful puzzles, chess pieces in large scale dimensions to move around. Free books to borrow, artistic area for children to play with and friendly area.

We stumbled on this winery by accident really, just following the pamphlet we found in our hotel, and we loved it. They used to hand us a list of wines and tells us we could try them all, for free, and we bought several cases. This last visit, however, was a real disappointment. It seemed like the quality of the wines have declined, the will only pour a limited number (yes, I know, this is a federal or state requirement now), and the whole atmosphere was just more harsh and less welcoming, even though the woman pouring the wines was the same person, and the tasting room was the same; it just all felt limiting and unwelcoming. I used to visit this winery/tasting room every time I was in the area. I will give it one more try, but I don't hold my hopes too high.

Morgan Hill Museum is an interesting place to visit – it has a museum that has artifacts, maps, photos, manuscripts, and memorabilia. On the same site is the historic home Villa Mira Monte. It was built in 1884-1886 by Hiram Morgan Hill for his bride. They lived in San Francisco, but used this home for a country retreat. There is a nice rose garden area on the property as well as a centennial trail which chronicles historic events in Morgan Hill City history.
We enjoyed visiting the site and highly recommend visiting. Hours are limited so check their web site for current hours.
Special events are also held here and more can be found out on their face book page.
