We took this hike early December. Perfect hiking weather! About a 2 hour easy/moderate hike around one of the Mittens. Took the hike late afternoon and worked up an appetite for a Navajo Taco dinner at the View Hotel.

Monument Valley – Highway 163 Scenic Drive

Scenic drive from Kayenta to Mexican Hat on US 163

Reviewed By 651jayw - Beaver Dam, United States

We took this drive a few times during different parts of the day because the monuments definitely stand out in certain lighting conditions. There are a lot of turnouts along the highway which is great because some of the shoulders are fairly Sandy and deep. Our favorite view was from Redlands Viewpoint which is just past mile marker 9 as you go North on highway 163. It is not marked well but is on the right side of the road and there are several Navajo stalls there. A few people were pulled over for sunset and it was an amazing view!
