I rode with a group of friends this weekend; fun ride on the lake. The Madam Carroll has snacks for sale and drinks. You can sit up on the top deck for a great view and catch the rays, or you can sit on the lower deck in a big room, if there is a program on board. Our cruise had two Gospel groups doing concerts, Hoosier Harmony and Southern Sound.

Happy for their success and it's nice to have a winery in Monticello but their success has gotten to their heads just a little bit. Now, *some* of their wines are nice but many will find on their list that only about 1 or 2 seem to just do it for them. Keep in mind when you go for a tasting, they charge you for tasting their wines. That's a classy move right there. They don't even do that in Sonoma. Again, Whyte Horse does have some positive things about it but as I said they do have their heads above them just a little bit. If you are in the Monticello area often or have extended stay, I do recommend venturing out and trying some of the other wineries in the area. It can be a fun mid day or afternoon drive doing some of the wineries on the Indiana Wine trail.
As a word of note many friends of mine have found their wine club ends up not being worth it in the end. Take caution of that.

Hollow Acres Golf Center

Reviewed By Inquisitive_Wayfarer - Lafayette, Indiana

Although Hollow Acres is a 45 minute drive from my home in Lafayette, I always return home happy that I made the journey.

Hollow Acres has it all. A 9-Hole (Par 3) Golf Course, a Driving Range, a Mini-Golf Course, and a Disc Golf course. I've played both the Par 3 course and the Mini-Golf and can attest to their quality. Pride of ownership is so evident. Even as we near the end of the golf season, they were out there caring for the greens today. A lot of Par 3 courses have closed over the last several years (or are in poor condition), so I'm glad this one is doing well and continuing to be well maintained.

They also sell food and drinks in the Hollow Acres clubhouse. They carry bottles of Stewart's soda which are highly recommended.

I want to make sure that I mention that the prices at Hollow Acres are very fair. You can golf all day on the Par 3 Course for $10. Mini-Golf will only set you back $4.50 and you can play an extra round for an additional $2.50. For $7.50, you can purchase unlimited play during the week. The food and drinks are also fair. A bottle of Stewart's was $1.50, and I gladly paid it.

Lastly, I want to note that the couple who manage (or own) Hollow Acres are so friendly! This is old school America. A couple who provide a quality product and a great rate with warm hospitality. Please do yourself a favor and give your business to Hollow Acres! There aren't many places around like it anymore.

Just like it says - fantastic addition to the Monticello area. Nice, thoughtful selection of beers, great staff, and the food options from the adjacent Scoreboard restaurant -- honestly, some of the best meals I've had recently in the area have been off the Scoreboard menu. Only slight complaint - wish they'd keep their taps a little colder than they do. However, prices are spot on, options for half pints and the flights are awesome, love the open room atmosphere.

The purposed drawing looks like it's going to be very nice when completed. They are also going to have a garden and some places to picnic. Congratulation to Monticello on this new park

NASCAR Go Cart Track

Reviewed By Kitties102 - Peoria, IL

I visited this place in 2010 and found it to be a complete hole-in-the-wall. There is only one go-kart track, and it is not very large. It is simply a flat track with a few turns. The cost to ride is $7/person. There is an "arcade" there as well, but it wasn't very large and everything was old/dusty, etc. The employees were friendly with helping us into the karts, and we got to ride for a decent amount of time as no one was behind us in line, but it really wasn't worth the money. They tell you not to wear sunglasses so they don't fall off, but I ended up having eyes full of dust by the end of the ride.

Their website is the most poorly designed site I've come across--no prices, hours, info. Very strange. There is a coupon to print if you ride during the day--$1 off.

Lake Shafer Boat Rentals

Reviewed By Andrew M - Huntington Beach, California, United States

We stayed at the lake for a week long family reunion. We rented the deck boat for Monday - Friday. Powerful boat, great for skiing and pulling. Holds 10 people for cruising. On Friday, we also rented 4 Wave Runners for an hour each.
The owner, Larry, is usually on site and great to work with him and his staff. Everyone there was very accommodating and outwardly helpful.
We had so much fun that we are already planning a return visit for next year.
I highly recommend their services to anyone looking to have a great time on Lake Shafer. Their location is also very conveniently located near Indiana Beach Amusement Park which allows for different family members to choose their attraction.
Thanks Larry... See you next year.

Crow campground was a mad house. They acted like they had been open very long. They changed our reservation without letting us know until check-in which resulted in issues with our part tickets. Crow Campground was very congested with lots of speeding up and down the roads. Several campsites had to have had six or seven tents on them well above the allowable limit. The shuttle service to the park was very erratic with no set time schedule or pick up points. The campground itself was in very bad repair.

Ask for the park there were long lines and probably 50% of the rides were either broken down or closed for one reason or another. Additionally the Park prices were raised this year. They were really pushing the season pass but after our experiences we won't be going back.

As far as food goes very overpriced and I think they've been using the same grease since they opened back in 1954?

My wife said as a child she really looked forward to going there with her family and she was so disappointed that she couldn't share that same experience with her kids

we stayed at Indiana Beach campground, we called ahead and reserved a group site. we have always gotten this same site in the past so we were more than aware it should be just us at that site. We arrived late Friday night to find 2 tents and whomever was on the lot taking not one but all the fire rings and picnic tables. We decided it was 10-11 at night we could share the lot even though it was suppose to be just us on there. we back in our camper and as we are finishing setting up the group of people in the tents came back. Lets just say they were not pleased with us being there. They stood at the end of our camper arms folded. in a very threatening stance. They made it loud and clear when they said to each other IS MIKE HERE WE WILL JUST HAVE HIM COME TAKE CARE Of THEM. now mind you they had a dog who yes was on a lease but NO ONE HAD AHOLD OF THE LEASH the dog was roaming free. we had out little dogs with us so they immediately came out of our car into our camper and into there cages due to the fact we did not want anything to happen with the other dog who though it was on a lease no one had ahold of the leash nor did they have it restrained to anything. Now one of the men in the group just stood facing us for a good 5 minutes. two others got into there vehicle and just watched us , then they said WELL IF THEY THINK THEY ARE GETTING ANY SLEEP TONIGHT THEY HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING WE WILL MAKE SURE OUR DOG KEEPS THEM UP ALL NIGHT. I finally said enough is enough , we were just gonna let it go, but between there stances , glares ,comments and the fact there dog could have killed ours I had it. we went up to check in the young lady at desked asked us what we needed and was very helpful, she told us we were the only ones booked for that camp site and she would get security to come remove the people on our site.
She walked us over to security were we were greeted by a tall dark haired security guard she explained to him what lot we were on and it was just us and 2 tents were on our site and they needed to be removed. She explained to the guard about the comments these other people were making and how they were standing glaring to make us uncomfortable.
He said ok let me get Mike and we will both head to your lot to take care of removing them.. We said thank you and headed back to our campsite.
A few minutes later the dark haird security guard and another one whom I am assuming is Mike came up to our camper.
Mike asked us what the problem was and what we needed. Now this made no sense to me as we just 10 minutes up at check in with the checkin girl and the other security guard and they were well aware of what was going on.
My wife started to tell Mike the security guard the whole story, when we got there what we found how they were acting what they were saying (but not once did we mention their dog roaming free) at this time we are a good hour after we have gotten there and no one has been removed them from our campsite. We made sure to let Mike the security guard know the vehilce this other group of campers had , did not have a CAR TAG IN THERE WINDOW and that made us wonder if they should even be there. after a good 5 minutes of being away from us "MIKE" came back to let us know they would be moving campsites, now my wife simply asked are they even suppose to be in the campground because they have been threatening since we got here and we dont know how comfortable we would be sleeping if they were just a row over from us. Mike was rude and condesending , instead of assuring us we would be fine. Mike wanted to let us know that OUR DOGS need to be on a leash and that was campground rules. REALLY my wife opened the door to the camper not only where they in their cages in a camper that had both doors shut but the leashes were hanging right by the door. again MIKE had to tell us our dogs should not be running loose because the tents that were on our site had told them our dogs were. ARE YOU KIDDING ME . so we finsihed our weekend and came home. we were going to write an honest review but decided to email Indiana beach corporate page directly for them to listen to our concerns. After we got home realized that Mike there friend they were going to call on us and Mike the sercurity guard where probably the same person. and there security guards were probably letting people stay whether they paid or not. The next day we received a call from someone for the corp office. I was babbbling so my wife tried to quickly explain the situation to him. He told us he would check into to and get back with us. Now mind you a few days later my phone rings I realize it is indiana beach calling me back and before I can answer the call disconnects. So my wife says call it back they said they would check into it and let us know. I called the number back the same guy who called me from corporate days earlier answered the phone and told me IT WAS A MIS dial and hung up . WE will never stay at Indiana beach again. Security is rude and apparently runs the place and corporate well if they cared they would have called us back ,
