The Oliver Estate

The Oliver Estate is a historical location that was built in 1769. On site stands a beautiful home that is 250yrs old, along with 2 story barn, carriage house, and a English garden maze that's well maintained yearly and it sits back in the woods. Also on these beautiful 55 acres stands a mill site and Herring run with a park area that's free to the public that's across the street.

We took a guided tour during a High School Reunion. The home is a delight to see as its structure is well preserved and its guides are enthusiastic, well versed in its history, and passionate about it. It lacks restoration funds however and is manned solely by volunteers. In spite of its lack of funding it is an authentic experience and I would recommend it to anyone in the area who enjoys history. When this place gets restored and furnished it will be a jewel, in the meantime just hearing the guided tour is worth the trip. Purchase a souvenir and help the cause.
