Because we were taking a road trip we wanted t make sure we stopped to see some of the fun roadside attractions. On the way to Paducah, we stopped in Metropolis to see Superman, the truly larger than life statue did not fail to put a smile on both of our adult faces so I can't even imagine how much a child would delight in seeing it. There is also a museum/comic store nearby for all your superhero souvenir needs. If you have a little time it's worth the detour.

This is a nice little casino tucked away in Southern Illinois. It has an attached hotel and is close to Shawnee National Forest. It has a very friendly staff.

We were definitely pleased and incredibly satisfied to have this experience here in Kentucky!
Numerous information and so many other ideas to digest which is readily available and outstandingly presented! So wonderful for anyone to see & become acquainted with as part of our fascinating heritage! Everyone should be aware of this history and hopefully some of our children will learn to appreciate this!
Extremely pleased to have stopped here!
Thanks for making this place available!

Nice walkways. Great museum with good help. They had events for the children. Even though there were lots of visitors during the eclipse...the grounds were spotless AND the trash cans were empty!

Murals painted on floodwalls depicting the history of the Paducah area.
Marvelously done and so incredibly created by some extremely talented people!
We were very pleased with this wonderful artwork and wish more public spaces were available and offered for use in our city and rural areas.
Perhaps other places will find some similar success jjust like the Quilts on the Barns arts of which are seen on barns across our country!
Beautiful!

The world famous Superman Museum, family owned and operated, officially opened in 1993 in the Man of Steel's official hometown of Metropolis, Illinois on Superman Square. The museum features 20,000+ items from the life's work of longtime Superman enthusiast and collector, Jim Hambrick who has amassed one of the greatest collections of Superman memorabilia in the world. Among the items showcased in the museum from the iconic superhero's 75+ year history are virtually every Superman toy ever produced as well as movie props and promotional materials from all the Superman movies & TV series (including "Smallville" and "Man of Steel") and one of the only George Reeves Superman costumes still in existence. The museum is organized around particular eras and portrayals of Superman, spanning television, movies, and comics; and is changed frequently, to encourage repeat visits.
Ummmm best road trip detour ever? I was driving back home to Nashville from St. Louis after spending the weekend there with a friend. Metropolis seemed like a great half way point to stop for a quick coffee and some photos! I stopped first at...MoreThank you!

This walk is behind the flood walls where the 50 murals are. You can drive down and park by the river. You can walk along the flood wall and see the tow boats, barges and other things going on in the Ohio River. Restaurants are nearby.

I was driving back to Nashville and from St. Louis last weekend, and Metropolis, Illinois (aka Super City), was the perfect half way stop! I stopped, went to the Super Museum (bought some unnecessary souvenirs), and visited all the statues (definitely don't miss Noel Neill/Lois Lane, Superman himself, or the big rock of Kryptonite if you're passing through)! Fun detour!

This is a really nice park in Paducah, easy to find, easy to get to, easy to park at. It's quite picturesque and very relaxing. A great place for a nice walk. It's quite large, with some beautiful trees and a pond. Would recommend if you're looking for a nice park in the area.

This was our first trip to Super Bowl and we were pleasantly surprised! The building was very clean and welcoming, wife said bathrooms were exceptionally clean. There were plenty of open lanes, an arcade, and a grill that offers sandwiches and pizza. Pricing for bowling was very affordable. If you can go on Sunday, it's $3.00 for shoes and $10.00 per person for UNLIMITED bowling all day! That's a deal! We just bowled two games with the kids as that was all time would allow, but we do plan on returning to spend more time.
