Sahib-i Ata complex including a mosque and recently renovated lodge for traveling dervishes and the tomb of the owner along with his family members has one of the best Seljuk tile samples.
Built by the Seljuk Grand Vizier Sahib Ata, also the founder of İnce Minareli Medrese (another must see for Konya) has been recently renovated and the lodge serves as a museum.
Across the street the complex also has a hamam ( bath ) and shops, (not related to the complex today , privately used for commercial purposes ) built then to generate income for the upkeep of the facilities. We were told these parts will also be reclaimed and turned in to museums following renovation.
The front gate to the mosque has eloborate stone craftmanship, a trademark for all Seljuck complexes, the elegant and original minaret built right by the front gate is also a good example for tourqouise tile and brick work. The mosque burned down several times during centuries and has been recently renovated resembling the original architecture in a smaller version. We were informed that the only original interior part of the mosque was the altar covered with original Selcuk tiles.
The dervish lodge behind the mosque, entered from a seperate gate and the adjoining tomb has excelent samples of Seljuck tiles. The lodge serves as a museum for antique carpets ( displayed smartly) , lamps, candlesticks gathered form the lodges.
No fee for entrance, next to Konya Archeological Museum and worth a trip with its interior tiles and architecture.

A must visit after you have visited the Mevlana Museum, half an hour's drive from the city centre. Calm, peaceful tomb. Pay your respect, don't forget to pick up the small zip-lock pouch of cooking salt for your home use. Ates Baz who had put his feet in the fire (Ates/Atish in Farsi/Urdu) to cook for his Master & his guests on a day when the firewood got finishes, he blesses your kitchen with that salt to serve love & health to your family & guests.

Konya Kapı Cami-Konya Gate Mosque is located in down town where one of the old castle's gates was here in old times so it is known as Kapı cami and it is just a few yards away from Aziziye mosque. The mosque was built one of the Rumi's grandsons named Sheikh Hussein Chalabi in 1658 and it was ruined later and then it was rebuilt the mufti of Konya Seyyid Abdurrahman Effendi in 1811. Unfortunately the Kapı mosque was destroyed by a big fire with all the shops around in 1867 so it was rebuilt in 1868 of which still remains. All this information is written on the inscription above the main entrance. It is one of the biggest Ottoman mosques built in Konya with ashlars having three gates, one in the middle and two are the sides. The mosques has 8 domes with a wooden top and the altar & pulpit were made from stone & wood. It has a beautiful atmosphere in the inner part with beautiful wall decorations with Koranic verses. The foundation for ablution was added to the mosque later. The mosque has an excellent location on walking distance in down town on the way To Mavlana Museum so it is recommended to visit. Cameras and scarves are advised to bring.
