Davenport Fruit Farm Cidery and Winery

We recently visited Davenport after seeing in the paper that they had a grand opening. Very comfortable location in a remodeled barn in the middle of an apple orchard. The inside was some what of a surprise, since they had newly remodeled the inside of the barn. It was the middle of the winter and it was warm and comfortable They have a selection of their own hard apple ciders, which are very tasty along with an assortment of locally brewed beer from their sister brewery TimberCreek Tap. I highly recommending a visit to get away from it all.

I've been here to go through the historical house multiple times. In different seasons as well. It's beautifully landscaped. Inside, I loved the Trees of Christmas. They're all different in each room. I also loved hearing about the history of the house from the earliest years and who lived in it. It's sad to see so much of it closed off because of funding. I remember when they baked in the basement long ago. It's now a craft store. I'm disappointed in that part. Over all, it's a perfect setting and place to check out in Meadville. The landscaping also makes great backdrops for wedding pictures.

Ernst Trail

This trail is a fairly level paved trail used for walking, biking or running. The trail is 5 miles long and the distance is marked every 1/4 mile. There are benches at different intervals for sitting if you want and there are several covered bridges that go over the water or marshes. I only saw chipmunks and a very small snake going back into hiding. Heard lots of birds.

We surprised our girls (ages 9 and 12) with a Friday afternoon trip and they couldn’t have been happier! We arrived at opening and only a couple other families were there, so no waiting in lines. It got crowded by 7ish, but we were ready to go (except for our youngest.) So, I’m not sure how fun it would be waiting. But, we got to experience daytime and dark and they were both great! The tow ride up the hill was my favorite, haha! It’s very relaxing and there’s beautiful scenery to enjoy. The lanes look the same, but each one was a little different, so it was fun to choose a favorite. It was a lot faster than I expected, but my husband and I were the only scared ones. My daughter particularly liked a female worker at the top who always gave her a push????. We all had a blast and look forward to going next year!

I go to VooDoo at least once a week. The beers are great and the food is delicious. The menu changes often and I look forward to trying the new dishes. If you are in a Meadville, stop by the downtown location for great beer and tasty grub.
