Triund Hill

Grade: Moderate Mcleodganj to Triund 2800 mtrs, 9 kms gradual trek. The trek offer panoramic views Bhagsu village, Mcleodganj, Dharamsala valley and distant views of Shivalik hills and plains of Kangra valley. The trek is moderate nature. Triund is a large land of green grass and pasture like. One can see the mighty Dhauladhar ranges just above the eyes. This is the base camp and climatization point for trekkers climbing the Inderahara point in the Mt. Dhauladhar.

This was my first trek to Triund. Since I went on a weekday and not in season, it wasn't too crowded - which I liked. I loved the trek and the views. I stayed the night at the forest rest house - it's very basic, as basic as it can get, but does it's jobs - provides you shelter at night. The sunset was amazing, and so was the milky way (no pics) on the clear night sky. Few things to note: 1. Must start trek from Galu Devi temple between 7-11 am if you are returning the same day. Only stay option is Forest rest house (Google search 'ecotourism himachal', the first result is website, select Dharmshala and then Forest rest house). I was lucky to get accommodation booking on the same day. Read 'lucky'. 2. Must carry raincoat, torch and anything else that's typically suggested (remember there is no electricity at Triund). 3. If you love dogs, please carry some biscuits. They must be rewarded with treats as they guide you and keep up your motivation.

If you aren't ready for a tough hike, do take this day hike, an approx 2 hours 30 mins one way and is worth a visit. But avoid during monsoons s a part f the route always gets a heavy landslide and may not be worth a try. The temple is worshiped by the locals and the premises used for the related ceremonies

This museum clearly shows the recent history of Tibet and the reasons why the Tibetan People and particularly His Holiness the Dali Lama and his closest followers fled Tibet in the late 1950's and beyond. Well laid out with clear narrations in 3 languages; first hand testimony from those who have made the perilous journey over the Himalaya. . Would recommend everyone who visits this area comes here for an enlightening experience

Known for the Beauty of the water fall when the destination is reached is the fact we heard about this waterfall that determined us to climb this water fall as soon as possible and started trekking and we clmbed for 1.5 km up the hill by stairs and small slopes that were there. we finally reached the top after a 15-20 minute long walk and it was very beautiful and there were clouds over there. and it is worth atleast 30 minutes up there and it only takes 10 minutes on the way down. if we come back to the Himachal, this is a must visit place over here

Bhagsunath Temple

The bhagsunath temple is unbelievably quaint. The temple itself is tiny with a shivalinga inside and none of the usual fanfare. The locals come here and they have maintained the complex and retained the original structure of the temple. Set at the foothills of the mighty dhauladhar ranges, it has a flowing water channel and a swimming pool with changing areas, fountains and a tea shop. The entire complex is exquisitely clean and well maintained. Go in the morning and connect with your inner self. It is another kind of experience.

How very special this temple is, not grand as it is in harmony with His Holiness' modesty. Walk the kora, turn the prayer wheels, take of your shoes and enter the most holy room of worship, and the room where Dalai Lama holds his teachings. Very spacious and pleasing to the eye are the spaces under tent roofs with a large capacity for listeners. One feels that this is a holy place.
