The oldest pub in Manningtree is still a traditional pub with a great selection of real local ales, an open fire, comfy chesterfield sofas, homely surroundings, friendly locals and staff. A unique take on food with customers bringing their own with plates and cutlery being supplied free of charge.
And the pub was busy - as usual. No surprise as it’s friendly, comfortable, with good beer. But too cold to sit outside this visit!

A House for Essex (Julie's House) is designed by Grayson Perry and FAT Architecture. It is both an artwork in itself and the setting for a number of works by Grayson Perry exploring the special character and unique qualities of Essex. The building has been designed to evoke a tradition of wayside and pilgrimage chapels. It belongs to a history of follies, whilst also being deeply of its own time.
This is a beautiful house dedicated to "Julie" Love the story and his narration of it at The First Site exhibition in Colchester. Both well worth a visit.

I visited here on 13/04/19. Record Store Day. My brother was seeking one particular exclusive record. This shop had it. And what a great shop. Live music, wine if you wanted it (the shop sells wine as well as vinyl, hence the name),extremely pleasant and helpful staff. What more do you need? If this shop was in my town, I know that I'd spend a lot of time, and money in it. If you like vinyl, and wine, then I can recommend this shop very, very highly. If you're in Manningtree - give them a look. You won't regret it.

Estuary Wine Bar is a contemporary and modern venue specialising in Fine Wines, Cold Tapas and Gins. We location in the pretty little town of Manningtree, next to the picturesque Stour Estuary.
We all love the estuary bar, it’s very informal and relaxed, we love the fact that you can sit and have a chat with friends. There is a great selection of gin and wine (gin or normal choice) and each week Rowan (the owner) has specialists gins to try ????

The most wonderful views from this area. We were in the area to look at the Grayson Perry House which was worth going to see. The surrounding area is well worth a drive round and a stop to admire the view or wildlife.

Fantastic Beers/wines/spirits.....A good time to be had by all ages.......under 18 must leave by 20.00 (so sorry). Very friendly staff. Just come in for a chat. SEE YOU SOON.
I come here for a fu**ing shootout. A proper shootout with some proper men. Like Colonel Custer and Geronimo, you ever heard of them? No. Cause you're too busy in your pinny baking fu**ing fairy cakes, weren't ya? Seriously though, great pub, great food, good prices, friendly staff. This is how it's done. Good luck for the future. Big Ron.
