This oceanside state park comprises 155 campsites and the Seaside Nature Center.
Cape Henlopen Park is as beautiful in the winter as in the warmer weather.... it has fantastic walking and biking paths throughout the woods. For the brave of heart you can walk along the ocean. The Park also has “Festival of Lights “ which runs during the Christmas season. This year it was fantastic......my family and friends from N.Y. and Florida were thrilled with the show! You can take a tour of Fort Miles and see the city underground that was used during WW ll...unbelievable experience. Could go on and on . ..so much to see and do!

We had a great time on the Eating Rehoboth tour to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We had been to some of the restaurants before but it was fun meeting the chefs and getting some background on the food and the establishments. The food was delicious! Highly recommend! #iaterehoboth

Cape May is wonderful, I highly recommend doing a day trip from Delaware. It's a very charming town with beautiful Victorian houses.

I walk this trail morning, noon and late evenings in summer, fall, winter and spring and never tire of the endless visual delights the scenery, birds, plant and other animal life offers, In summer, I find the best time to walk is close to dusk, ie, after sunset but before pitch dark. Most others, including those speed bikers, are gone and the marsh and forest is quiet and inviting with soft light and silence.
Winter is always less trafficked and less populated and offers surprises of its own making like gorgeously "severe clear" vistas across grasses beaten down by frost and senescence,
April simply put is my favorite season when birds are migrating and noisy, green sprigs are poking up through the muck and people have not yet populated the trails with conveyances such as bicycles, baby carriages and other self powered vehicles. Listening to all the sounds of spring awakening from a deep winter chill is in itself enough reason to walk here at anytime in April. Plus, days are warmer, longer and hold the promise of yet another torridly busy beach season.
Summer, except after sunset and before dark, is the time I least walk the Gordon's Pond Trail as I am swimming at Lewes Beach on my back watching the sunset! Oh la la an experience not to be missed!
Another delightful trail to walk if you are on the Cape Henlopen side of Gordon's Pond, is the Ft Myles Trail from the Nature Center (shorter) or Fishing Pier (longer). Again, best time in Summer is just after sunset but you must walk at a good clip. Otherwise, start 30 min prior to sunset and stroll instead of "force march" your walk.
Happy walking Gordon's Pond Trail. It's a love affair without end!

Growing up in a farming community, we had access to homemade ice cream. Thick, rich, sweet and delicious.
Well that pretty much sums up Hopkins dairy. It's a treat any time we go.
One little drawback in the summer is the pungency that comes with having a dairy farm.
Close your car windows and "Forget About It". All I can say.

Our recent vacation in Rehoboth DE, included several rides on this trail. We rode to Lewes on the trail. The trail is a pleasant flat trail thru farm country, Marsh land, residential and paved roadside paths. We often rode the trail past Lewes , & rode back to Rehoboth via the Cape Henlopen Park Bike paths and Gordons Pond Trail. This loop is about 16 miles. There is some parking at the Tanger Outlets, that are near a short path that connects to the trail. I would not recommend parking anywhere else... as merchants and residential are parking is watched closely.
Simply said... this is a great trail. If you like Rails to trails.. this is a good one.

A good look at our defenses during World War II. We were very disappointed that the museum was closed after a long walk to get there. Signs should have bee posted to say it was closed.

This museum duplicates the architecture of a medieval Dutch town.
New to Lewes and wanted to learn more about the history. Stopped in the Zwaanendael Museum which is a beautiful museum filled with local history and it is free but I would recommend a donation if you can. Enjoyed the exhibits and the Dutch and Naval history. Worth going back to see again and right in town on Kings Highway.
