Lehighton (/li'hɑitən/) is a borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, United States, 77 miles (124 km) north of Philadelphia, and 54 miles (87 km) south of Scranton. In the past, it developed early industries because of water power from the Lehigh River. With the location of a repair facility here and its regional operations, the Lehigh Valley Railroad became for years a major employer of thousands of people from the area. Post-World War II railroad and industry restructuring led to job and population losses.

Country Junction is a great place to bring the family ....this time we brought friends and had a fun time through the building . We hadn't been there in years. This time they separated the Furniture Section at the far end and made it special on concentrating mainly on the fun stuff through the building. They even had Dinosaurs that moved and roared. Lots of great stuff to buy. The Candy place is still there and they have Sugar Free items. They have a children's play arcade area and a Pizza place. The four of us had pizza. Very good Pizza. They did every other table with Social Distancing with tables in between not being used. And through out the Country Junction it self....standing points for 6 feet distancing. There are tables for outside dining with social distancing. Seasonal events outside attractions....for the family. Petting zoo.

My brother booked a trip for some of the family (7 in total) for rafting a few weeks ago. He found this company through google. Extreme Adventure Travel is a smaller group than the other groups I've seen at the beginning spot, but that was okay. I actually liked that it was like that. We parked at a national park parking lot and locked our cars and gave the one employee our keys for safety. We got a van shuttle to the top point of the trip. The van was a little hot but at least it was a shuttle. We got to the beginning and was happily greeted by Tori when she opened our doors with a mask on (thank you about the mask). Which she said to be our guide. We waited for another family to get shuttled to the beginning for about 5 or so minutes. Then Tori gave a brief speech and told us how to be safe, paddle, get off rocks etc. Half of us were new to this so glad she went into detail and answered questions at the end. Then we went off. The river and scenery were splendid throughout the river. We stopped at lunch for 25 minutes to relax and eat. The other family forgot their lunch, but Tori had helped them with that which was so nice. She got them water bottles and chips. We got toward the end of the trip after hitting some rocks. Tori asked if our teens or anyone wanted to try the kayak. She got out and let my brother's teen into the kayak alone, but Tori reassured there was "baby" Rapids from that point on. We all made it to the end and got our keys from the key bucket. We definitely had fun interacting in our small group with only a few other families in a few separate rafts. Tori was great with interacting and good with directing us to the right spots. We will come again next year and hope Tori is still working !
