You’ll hear real stories from the lives of admirers of Kolomna pastila – from simple folk to tsars and tsarinas and Russian men of genius. Come and sample a taste of history!

The Museum-Residence ‘Artkommunalka. Erofeev and Others’ is a kind of idiosyncratic time machine. As you arrive on the second floor you’ll find yourself in a different era – the one that Vladimir Vysotsky sang about: “We all lived modestly, cheek by jowl; thirty-eight rooms, just one toilet and towel”. During the tour you’ll hear about the fate and individual stories of former residents – this is a genuine ‘communal Odyssey’. Once you’re become fully acquainted with the apartment and its past, you’ll be invited into its very heart: the kitchen. This is where neighbours had ferocious arguments and resolved their common concerns. Our welcoming hosts will treat you to a typical Soviet meal - sausages with peas - and serve you tea with crackers and sweets. To commemorate Erofeev, the Artkommunalka Museum also has as an Artist in Residence programme; this provides accommodation for writers and artists from every corner of Russia and beyond, where they can create new works.
