This recognizable fell is located in the village of Kilpisjarvi. You can climb to the top of the fell (1029m) along a trail which starts at the Kilpisjarvi tourist centre. Scrambling up to the top of Saana is a challenge worth doing. The longest set of stairs in Finland helps you at the steepest part of the four kilometer journey. From the top of the Saana you can see for miles!
The trail begins from a parking slot of Malla naturalpark. The trail was in very good condition for about the first couple of kilometers. From there the rest of the route was a gently sloping rocky "path". The "path" was marked with black sticks but basically you could walk where ever on the top of Saana. This phase of the climb seemed to be never ending but the hike was totally worth the scenery at the top of Saana.

The hike up wasn't very long but quite steep. But here the hike was also worth the hike. Up you can get a nice scenary to Saana, Kilpisjärvi town and Kilpisjärvi lake. The weather was a bit cloudy but it didn't make the trip any worse.

The borders of Finland, Sweden and Norway meet at the Three Nation's Border Point that stands on a man-made island in the Malla Strict Nature Reserve. The point is located about 11 km west from the village of Kilpisjarvi. You get there by hiking or skiing through the Malla Strict Nature Reserve, or during summer you can get there by the Malla boat.
We went to the three countries border with Kilpisafarit and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I will be back! Thank you Finland!!!

Guided fishing & hunting tours in Arctic Lapland – Finland, Norway and Sweden. I'm Ville Alatalo, your fishing and hunting guide from Finnish Lapland. I’ve been fishing and hunting since childhood, thanks to my late grandpa who taught me everything. I caught my first fish when I was four years old. It was a huge grayling, even bigger than me – as I recall it. Today I want to keep this traditional northern lifestyle alive, share the lore of the wilds with you, and also enhance fishing and hunting practices sustainably. Welcome to experience the arctic wilderness and wild trail waters of Finland, Sweden and Norway with me!
