The cathedral was built in honor of Catherine the Great of Russia. The grounds have several beds of flowers & there are other monuments & buildings to see. The inside is very beautiful. The grave of Grigory Potemkin is also inside the cathedral. He was a consort of Catherine the Great & started the Black Sea Fleet in Kherson in 1778. This is worth a visit.

It is an experience to witness this view .Kherson once had 3 ship building yards of which only 1 is presently functional. In summers there is a boat from here to the oppsite bank of the river with organised river swimming .One can also pick upthe boats forsailing or gallavanting around,

The park is dedicated to the WW II liberators of Kherson. There are several plaques in the park that contain information on how the Soviets eventually defeated the Germans in WW II. There is also a great view of the Dnieper River here. This is one of the better Soviet memorials I have visited.
