This was my third visit to the Arkas Art Center in as many years and I intend to go back when I'm in Izmir. The exhibits are located in a two-story, moderate size building; staff is attentive. Entrance is free. On all occasions we were left to roam on our own; while there are no guided tours for individual visitors (that I am aware of), there are descriptions of the exhibited items as well as the collections in English and French as well as Turkish, which is very convenient. The exhibited items come from the Arkas private collection as well as from other European galleries, museums, etc. (have spotted some from the Louvre, Bibliotheque National, etc.). I find the exhibits to be well curated and informative, esp. if one is interested in Izmir, the Levant, and Anatolia. Overall, it's a little gem in the heart of the city.

Kordon, with its historical background is one of the most attractive places in Izmir. They say that two places are worth to watch the sunset: Rio and Izmir (Kordon). You can decide among several nice restaurants, cafes and bars waiting for you for an excellent sunset view there.

Alsançak is a modern, cosmopolitan and bright bohemian district in downtown Izmir. The cafes and bars together with wonderful restaurants and unusual shops create a good international atmosphere where people from all over the world meet. I was served one of the best coffee's I've ever had outside of Italy. Highly recommended.

This 16th-century mosque is the largest and oldest in Izmir. Of note are the interior decorations, pulpit and altar.
This is a quality old mosque with tons of charachter, history and a warm welcome at Friday Prayers. Well worth seeking out.

Really pretty spot with two rustic elevators you take up a cliff, providing a nice view of the city. Climb further up some pretty stairs. Some restaurants are up top but we didn't try them.

Forum Bornova is in a bit remote location. If you are walking you need to pass through the university campus it takes 15 to 20 minutes. The place has the shops for high-quality brands and many catering options. There is also a supermarket so if you are staying in Anemon Ege, it will be a good pption to buy things. The only problem is to be far away from the cost, so it is the only activity you can do in that area.

This colorful area of the city is known for its antiques and elegant shops. Visitors will also fine many good seafood restaurants here.
This is a massive street market and bazaar. You must have Turkish coffee at “ Ömer Usta” and have fish at the “ kemer6” just by the silver bazaar.
