Kankakee /kæŋkəˈki/ is a city in and the county seat of Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. The city's name is probably derived from the Miami-Illinois word teeyaahkiki, meaning: "Open country/exposed land/land in open/land exposed to view," in reference to the area's prior status as a marsh. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 27,537. Kankakee is a principal city of the Kankakee-Bourbonnais-Bradley Metropolitan Statistical Area

Big River Fly Fishing is a guide service designed to introduce the sport of fly fishing and promote the Midwest as a world class fishery. I grew up on the Kankakee River and have been entranced, obsessed with the sport of fly fishing since I was eleven or so. I've spent years living in New York and Western Montana, and honestly, this home water fishery rivals it all. This guide service will strive to provide memorable trips on the Kankakee and share the love for the river's history, ecology, conservation efforts, and of course, fly fishing.

Grapes and Hops is a great place to hang out with friends and visit - also a great place for private parties! They are always creating new drinks to try and we love their wine slushies! It’s a wonderful place to bring friends who are visiting the area too - who had no idea the fun Kankakee has to offer!

I used to work at this train ???? station when is was staffed by Amtrak. I went back to check out the museum that is there now. It is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours checking out the past. Best visited in the summer. Try to visit at the time that an Amtrak train passes through to get the best experience.

Each year the museum hosts the “Gallery of Trees”! The preview night is a fabulous evening of community complete with a catered dinner and the magic of the season. Trees are decorated by organizations to a specific theme. This year celebrated Walt Disney with each tree choosing a specific movie! Beautiful event for adults as well as (supervised) children!

Super staff. Training or just a fun day in the water, Haigh is quiet and peaceful day-dive location. I've done almost all my final training there and have spent my share of time hangin' and chillin' with the huge fish population.
