Old Town Hall

Reviewed By niels-j - Aarhus, Denmark

If you are in Kalisz, a walk around the old town is not to be missed; Kalisz has a lot of charm and atmosphere. The city also looks quite worn down in places. Some buildings in the center appear empty or abandoned and need immediate care to prevent them from turning into ruins. I was visiting in February - and my guess is that during the summer Kalisz with its wide squares, extensive parks and many trees probably looks much brighter. Beside the parks and some interesting remains of the medieval city wall behind the Jozefa church, Kalisz has a few other attractions. There's a museum and you can join a free tour of the city hall including a climb on narrow stairs to the top of the tower.
The tour of the city hall is guided and starts on a given hour at the entrance just inside the building. On each floor there is a special exhibition showing important eras of the history of Kalisz. From the top of the tower you have a great view of the city.

Dworek odwiedziliśmy wracając z wyjazdu do Kalisza i zgodnie stwierdzamy: miejsce jest wyjątkowo urokliwe i inspirujące dla każdego poszukującego weny twórczej. Dookoła dworku piękne i całkiem spore tereny do spacerowania, przed samym budynkiem natomiast śliczny dziedziniec i ławeczki, na których można przysiąść i odsapnąć. :-)

This Castle is located on the road from Poznan to Kalisz. The castle is surrounded by a very nice park. This attraction is certainly worth a visit, though access is possible only with a guide. Unfortunately our guide spoke only Polish, so she was not very helpful for us. If you decide to go, consider that the road is jammed with traffic, in particular with trucks.

When travelling I spent half a day here. It is a nice place to be during hot days. Good for both Children and families.
There is space to relax and to be active. Although it was busy, you still can find a spot to lay down.
The food is decent and average priced. There are lockers available for clothes/valuables.

I went on it every day for three weeks without knowing that its No. 3 as most remarkable place in Kalisz - (Unfortunately, it's the wrong bridge tripadvisor has marked up).
The bridge is today an important part of the city's infrastructure, it is cobbled with some beautiful stone tablets middle of the bridge ... But it is not exactly a UNESCO World Heritage candidate.

An fascinating place to visit, like getting a glimpse back to the Middle Ages.
There is probably more exciting to be in the summer when there are people around, but intressant enough to look around alone.
It draws much down that all signs are in Polish (I think) - you do not get a card or something that can explain what you look at, I got a nice walk of the place but not much knowledge

City park
