The park's reconstruction as a memorial is very thoughtful and detailed- right down to the number of trees matching the number of victims from the tornado. In addition to the memorial there are playground areas. Right across from Cunningham Park, the memorial continues into Mercy Park.

Conservation area south of Joplin, Mo with extensive walking trails, museum, and wildlife programs & activities.
At a time when nature is highly desired but harder to find, Wildcat Glades is a wonderful escape nestled outside Joplin. The center itself has live animals and lots of hands-on activities along with information on this one of a kind ecosystem. They offer great activities for kids and families, but it that isn't your cup of tea, the trails are scenic and peaceful for a casual stroll or a energetic jog.
It's always disheartening to see so much development encroaching on natural areas, but in Joplin a sizable section is still preserved by a very dedicated staff for recreation and escape. I am excited to see where Wildcat Glades goes in the future. And its all free, so why shouldn't you give it a try?
Whether you have time, spare change in the donation box a membership, whatever! This area is worth conserving, and well worth your time.

We needed gas and saw this was a short drive from the gas station . Parked on the road and made the easy scramble down the chert rock to the falls. Enjoyed the cool, moist air on a hot day. Found a spot downstream to soak our feet. These are supposed to be the highest continuously flowing falls in the state. Worth a quick detour for a different break from driving. Wouldn't expect more than a half hour stay.

Joplin 44 Truckstop serves the trucking and traveling public. shopping, custom embroidery & vinyl shop, gas islands, diesel fuel center, truck chrome, truck wash, truck service center, laundry facilities, private shower rooms, movie theater and more!
This is a pretty cool place. I liked all the things to see.
The restrooms are clean and nice.
However the Caribou coffee place was pretty bad. The person who worked there was really rude, the chai tea was too sweet and just odd. The poppyseed bread my mom had was dry and just awful. The cookie I had was off.
The Taco Bell was one of the best I've been to.
Try the truck stop but not Caribou coffee!!

There is a variety of sections with arts and crafts that will appeal to many browsers. We ate in the Cafe. The food was fantastic with generous portions. It is somewhat of a challenge for tour buses to get there, but it is well worth it.

A collection of five museums including one on history, science, cookies, dolls and sports.
We enjoyed wandering through this museum. The arrangement of the large mineral samples in a cave-like setting was delightful. I had to hold my hands to keep from touching them (there are signs all over: 'do not touch'). On the second floor was a large mining model. The other side of the museum had 'display rooms' arranged with furniture. There was a living room, a doctor's office, a soda fountain, and others. Also a room dedicated to models of circus tents. Another room had a fire engine.

Staff and management are very helpful.
Sears is also a good store in this mall.Excellent tools, electronics, housewares, and major appliances as well as clothing.
Of course there are lots of small clothing shops and other shops in this mall, and a BIG food court!

Bonnie and Clyde would never have become legends had it not been for the film discovered here after the big shoot-out. If you've seen the movie, you owe it to yourself to see where it really happened.

This is a crushed gravel trail that was once part of the San Francisco-St. Louis railroad. It is completely flat. The crushed gravel surface makes it easy on the joints. I was there on a Saturday in March and there were quite a few people out enjoying the trail. I ran a total of 7 miles and didn't make it to the Northern end of the trail. There is a nice parking area at the southern start of the trail and another parking area near the Zora St. and St. Louis Ave intersection.
