Gunung Pulai (Mount Pulai)

Reviewed By Feisal_Gh - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I went there with bunch of friends trying out hiking in Johor. Check in at one of the budget hotels in Kulai for the night. Early morning went to Gunung Pulai recreational forest located 20 minuets drive from our location. You can also stay at some home stays in Gunung Pulai area. The air was cool and refreshing. We ate breakfast with the one of the best nasi lemak stalls there and afterwords start hiking up to starting point. There was a gate to prevent unauthorized vehical going up since there is a communication tower at the top and well guarded by military personnel. After passing the waterfall section further up there we went through the trail section (Hutan Pelajaran). There is a signboard on your right and we went through and up using the trail all the way till the top. In between the peak there is a big boulder area where you can rest awhile before continuing up and reach the top. The trail will merged into the tarmac and the Gunung Pulai sign would be at the first communication tower with some viewpoint of JB and Kulai. Going done was not easy but surely if you have good footing can easily reach the bottom in no time. We stop at the river and waterfall section and took a cool swim and chill for awhile before heading for lunch in Kulai 8Kati. It was a good hike with good friends. Will repeat again.

Johor Bahru City Square

Strategically located in the heart of the city and only a stone's throw from the customs and immigration checkpoint, Johor Bahru City Square stands out as a central landmark in JB. With its more than 200 retailers, it offers a host of fashion, entertainment and restaurants. All catered to wow the senses and satisfy the needs. Rush in when the doors open at 10am for breakfast, then head out and start your shopping adventure of clothes, shoes, bags, trinklets, toiletries, electronic toys. Everything the heart desires. Unique to Johor Bahru City Square is the Inner City, an eclectic mix of smallish fashion and accessory shops plus restaurants housed in a tight, quaint setting. Always a firm favorite of the "NOW" generation. After many hours of shopping, rest the feet in one of the numerous restaurants and cafes or indulge in a soothing foot massage, then go on to treat the rest of the body at a salon.

We hiked up and down in 3hrs on a weekday. Not many people and the locals warned that some paths are quite misleading so it’s better to take the tougher and steeper route up to summit. We did and happy to be able to experience the different terrain. Tree roots and Ropes and all. Very enjoyable hike!

This was a most amazing day and definitely one off the bucket list. If your kids are a fan of LEGO then this theme park will blow them away. The rides are so much fun as are the different areas. Personal favourites were Miniworld where there are LEGO replicas of famous sites around Asia and the Star Wars exhibit where they recreate a famous scene from each of the first six movies. Plenty of dining options around the park with the pricing being quite reasonable. Our favourite ride was the Adventure Land boat drop where you do get very wet at the end of the ride, be warned. Overall a brilliant day and one we will repeat in the future!

The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey

Reviewed By SLHoliday13 - Singapore, Singapore

We were in Johor for a short stay over the Christmas period. Went to City Square Mall, Aeon at Tebrau City and Mid Valley mall. The latter beats them all. Mid Valley Mall is the place to shop and dine if you are in JB. It has 5-6 storeys of retail outlets and a cinema. The shops range from international brands to local retail outlets. Very spacious and welcoming design and layout. At the basement, there are plenty of eateries from small cafe to restaurants like i Dragon. Worth the visit if you are in JB. Don't bother to go Aeon Tebrau as it has become very dated, overcrowded and toilets are not clean. Will definitely visit Mid Valley again when I am in JB.

Endau Rompin National Park

Reviewed By charrank2018

I went with my friends of 3 to Endau-Rompin National Park (Peta) entrance. Overall, the park was beautiful and very clean, mostly because it is actually well maintained. We contacted Lop to arrange for a 4D3N chalet stay over at Kampung Peta. We payed around 750 ringgit, and truly, it was really worth for the money we paid. Chalets were actually decent. It's a good place to rest after a long day of activity. To be honest, the place is very ulu, it's about 50km from the main road, goes deep into the oil palm plantation and jungle. But, once you get there, you guys will love the scenery. For nature lovers and people who like to go camping in the outdoors, or simply want to be out of mobile network and any forms of telecommunication, this place is a must-go. Can truly experience nature upfront, in its most pristine state. It's highly recommended to have a malay-speaking guy in your group as it would be easier to facilitate with the tour guide regarding the activities that you will be doing. The tour guides are all very friendly, informative and very experienced in knowing the jungle inside out. Highly recommend to go to the upeh guiling waterfalls, buaya sangkut waterfall, tasik air biru and more importantly, water tubing at endau river.
