This National Park consists of 34 small islands just off shore in Boston Harbor. The most popular, George's Island, is home to Fort Warren, a Civil War Landmark that housed Confederate prisoners. Visitors to the 12 islands open for exploration can camp, kayak, tour lighthouses, ride harbor ferries, hike and swim.

Small and picturesque, Bumpkin Island was home to Native Americans, a fish-drying operation, tenant farmers, a naval training camp, polio patients, and more. The Paragon Carousel has been operating along the shores of beautiful Nantasket Beach for 90 years. Built in 1928 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, it is the last remaining attraction from the Paragon Park amusement park that closed in 1985. Kids of all ages will enjoy a ride on “the painted ponies”. Then move to the Paragon Park Museum next door to learn about the park’s founding in 1905 and its evolution from a Victorian era “exposition” to a late 20th century amusement park. Hear modern recordings of early 1900s songs about a trip to Paragon Park. Marvel at a scale model of the Giant Coaster and watch a “rider’s view” video (complete with screams!) of a front car trip on the classic wooden coaster (hands up!). See an original Kooky Kastle cart and the scale from George Kasian’s “Guess Your Weight” shack. And stop at The Restoration Studio to check on the progress of the latest Paragon Carousel horse being brought back to its original beauty.

The museum is located in a beautiful 1889 Lifesaving Station with views of Boston's outer harbor and islands along with the first lighthouse built in North America, Boston Light. The museum chronicles the history of the lifesavers who risked their lives to save fellow mariners in peril along the rocky coast. Check out the lifesaving Surf boat "Nantasket" on display in the "boat room" along with many artifacts, photos and charts. The museum also features a quaint gift shop with many interesting items for sale.
