We went mainly to see Mark Twain grave but stayed and wandered around looking at the other areas as well. Seemed to be well kept with many old-style tombstones and sculptures. Also, near but not connected to a federal cemetery with a separate civil war section.

An ESCAPE ROOM is a fully immersive adventure game where groups of up to 10 people work together to interact with objects and clues to solve ciphers, riddles, and puzzles within a full size room or series of rooms. The objective of the game is to attempt to solve the mystery and escape the room in under 60 minutes.
This is the 2nd time we've tried a Great Escape Room as a team, and we were successful each time, but it was very interesting to see how all our team members worked to solve a situation in timed environment. We have had a great...MoreThank you so much for the feedback. We are excited about the next escape room that is currently in the design phase! It will have a medieval theme.

Introducing your pathway to physical, emotional and spiritual wellness and self worth. We provide professional and convenient spa and wellness services, all in an atmosphere of relaxation, love and kindness. At Namaste, we offer result oriented skin care services, customized massages, body scrubs, waxing, a full service salon, nail services, a yoga studio and wet & infrared saunas.
I took 18 weeks of prenatal yoga and received prenatal and regular massages over the last year at the spa. All amazing experiences! The staff make every visit personalized and comfortable. I had an amazing unmedicated and uncomplicated birth and I attribute a huge part of that to the yoga class taught by Lindsay Wolf. Highly recommend Namaste's services.

This was an awesome experience for us. Since this area has hills/mountains, it is perfect for gliders. There was a competition going on with the gliders being tethered to small airplanes. There was probably 40 gliders taking off one right after the other, what a sight! A fellow in training who I talked to there told us that the gliders brand new can cost up to $100,000! The newer ones are made of fiberglass. Worth going to see.

You cannot miss the Imperial oatmeal stout aged in Fingerlakes Distilling rye barrels. A new favorite! We had a sampling and we weren't displeased with any. They do good work with their product. The atmosphere is different but not disappointing - just don't expect anything fancy. You'll want to order more - but they limit you to two pints per visit because the beers are that potent!

This park is located just off I-87 in the town of Big Flats near the Elmira airport. It is a beautiful spot for a picnic, a walk or a run, a stretch after a long drive or a peaceful place for some quiet time. The park was created as a memorial to a NYS trooper, A.J. Sperr, who gave his life in the line of duty near this park. There is a memorial to him on Lowe Road at the park., and there are memorial benches to other law enforcement officers from NYS who gave their lives. The park itself has a pond with a trail around it, plus another pond to the west. There is a longer trail running along the south sides of both ponds. All the trails are very easy to navigate. In addition, there is a playground for the kiddies and a picnic pavilion. The view from the pavilion is quite pretty. This is well worth a stop!

Nine miles of scenic trails in the Finger Lakes area that begin at the Nature Center allow you to experience the natural beauty of the Chemung Valley first-hand. We offer hiking year-round and winter activities including snowshoe rentals and GPS rentals. Our 12,000 square foot building features a museum with 43 species of live animals. Our trails are open 365 days/year dawn to dusk. Our museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9-5 (May-October) or 9-4 (November-April). Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
This is a great place to go fora hike, especially in the fall! You are surrounded by the beautiful fall colors and the leaves are falling around you. We took the red trail, which is the most challenging, but there are other easier trails. When we were finished, the museum was closed. We will come back another day and go to the museum.

While it is true that many airplane museums have more aircraft, this is a discovery (educational) center not a museum. I learned things here.
It was easy to spend two hours here, about half of it looking at the timeline on the back wall depicting important events in aviation through the years.
A restaurant inside offers a variety of food including several kinds of tasty soup, all at reasonable prices. It appeared that locals come here for lunch.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Karen.
Note: The discovery center has very short hours, only from 11 to 3, Tuesday through Saturday. I wish it were open longer as I had to return the following day to see it all.
Look for it on the west side of the airport, with airplanes parked around it. (They can be viewed even when the building is closed.)

The museum is housed in a old bank building; which in itself is very interesting. The old vault and infrastructure is pretty much all intact. For the architecture alone its worth seeing. But the museum charges a small fee ($5 for seniors...) and is very reasonably priced. It offers a glimpse of the history of Elmira, including Native Americans, immigrants and a section on Mark Twain who was a Elmira resident. Its all one floor and easy to get around even if your disabled. Plenty of free parking.
