Hellisgerdi Park

A small public park, tucked away in the lava at the heart of Hafnarfjördur. The park is known for being a home of Elves and Hidden people. Juring the summer and some sunny days the Little Elf store is open for souvenir and some refreshments.

I live very close to it and I love walking around the park at anytime. It looks beautiful but even more when it's covered in snow

You feel like a viking, they made a great job with the decoration, the staff is so friendly and they tried to do the possible to care of us (covid19). We went to the restaurant and we ordered hamburger and fried fish, it was delicious and Maria was amazing with the service, she gave us tips to see the northern lights, talked about the icelandic customs, we had a great time with her!!!

Hafnarborg The Hafnarfjordur Centre of Culture and Fine Art

The mission of Hafnarborg – the Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art is to maintain dynamic and ambitious cultural functions, thereby creating grounds for diverse cultural life in the town. Hafnarborg therefore preserves Hafnarfjörður’s art collection, being responsible for research into and exhibitions of said collection for the benefit of the town’s guests and residents, as well as ensuring that this heritage continues to be a prominent part of Icelandic culture and art history. In addition, Hafnarborg runs an international artist-in-residence programme. Hafnarborg operates in accordance with the charter and cultural policy of Hafnarfjörður, Icelandic museum laws, and the protocol of ICOM – the International Council of Museums.
