The sauna area is certainly the best ever visited. Check out my summary of the Tropicana Südseetherme.

There were many young families, kids in strollers and running about having a wonderful time. In addition to the animals, there were play apparatus and a bounce house within the zoo. The animals are in relatively small enclosures, so you can see them well, but neither are they in little cages. Unbelievably nice for a free attraction, but don't expect the kind of huge operation you might pay a big fee to enter.

The Ruine of this hilltop castle, which was built around 1150, was once the largest castle complex of upper Austria. It is possible to visit the castle, the keep is accessible via a newly build stairway. There is also a tower with a stairway to the top, roughly 4 flours.
The scenery is very usable for pictures of couples, Families and Weddings.
I advise everyone that us in this area to check out this historical sight.

Together with many many other People we spent another wounderfull day in the thermal SPA of Bad Schallerbach. The teriffic thing is that as well the Kids as also the adults have their entertainement - fun SPA, tropical SPA ans a huge SAUNA world.
The Eurothermen-Resort has been rewarded as the best SPA facility of Europe and I totally agree.

prices are slightly higher if compared to others, but was is offered is also exceptional.
in the open areas you may find anything from giraffe, lion, rhinoceros to birds of all kind as well as all european animals. the indoor zoo offers monkeys up to gorillas (very large space and super to watch them acting) and many kinds of butterflies & birds. in another large building there are all water species - crocodile, turtles, sharks, mantas snakes etc. etc. - too much to mention.
in that building there is also a large space for children to play (indoor)
another huge outdoor playground for children is available as well.
inside the zoo you will find an open air restaurant and another small one indoor, there is sufficient parking available but on saturday and sunday it may be very crowded.
very recommendable zoo

The Benedictine abbey dating to the 11th-century is, with its oldest Romanesque frescoes in southern Germany and Austria, the only remaining Baroque Abbey-theatre in Austria, the marvellous Baroque library and the church a must-see place for every visitor interested in culture or history. Between Easter Sunday and 31st of October, guided tours through the abbey are offered every day at 2pm. Afterwards, the restaurant "Stiftskeller" in the court of the abbey or one of the cafes in Lambach invite you to stay a little longer. No pre-registration needed. The tour starts at the stairs at the back of the court. In addition, the abbey offers rooms for an overnight stay (incl. breakfast). Especially for visitors looking for a quite space, it is possible join the community of monks during the stay.
If you are a fan of art, architecture and history, this will be appreciated. I took the tour, but it was only in German; my Austrian fiancee give me the main points but I enjoyed taking in all the art, artifacts and the beautiful rooms and the grounds.
You can buy the tickets for the tour from the gift shop. We did a fair amount of wandering without the tour, The Cathedral was beautiful and we snuck into the balcony and witnessed a local wedding taking place... I'm officially a wedding crasher :) - but they have access behind those closed and mysterious doors throughout the abbey we couldn't get past.
I don't know if this attraction is featured for international tourists; most of the people on the tour were from Austria (most from the wedding party). One other couple from the UK - they got an even more abridged version of the tour from me- telling them second hand from my S.O who I am sure did his own editing. But if you have a vehicle and know an Austrian, you should be able to make your way there with no problem.
Ironically the Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies of all time. My life is complete that I actually got to visit a real abbey. I'm not gonna lie though: all the songs from that soundtrack were running through my head the entire time. lol
As a bonus; there was a wine tasting festival in the fish Gardens of this Abbey. Yee ha! About 20 different wineries. That was a lovely way to wrap up our visit. Ironically the best tasting wine was the one made by the monks.
Three thumbs up!
