Finally a source for coffee aficionados who have to limit caffeine! Don't know what's happening with the commercial coffee industry these days, but the quality of familiar brands is changing in an unappealing way (at least to our palates); and decaf has always been a hit or miss proposition. Some time ago we also discovered that decaf is exponentially better when freshly ground from freshly roasted beans and even began ordering green decaffeinated coffee beans for in-home roasting. End result: a lot of work for a little coffee and still a hit or miss situation. Enter: Greencastle Coffee Roasters. These guys deliver a high-quality product with a comforting consistency that keeps us coming back month after month. We've tried all the blends and exotics, but our favorites continue to be the Decaf Guatemala Antigua and Decaf Costa Rica varieties for pure, rich, smooth, old-fashioned "honest" coffee flavor. These roasters do a brisk business, and the product is always fresh. I store my whole beans in the freezer in the original bags inside a plastic bag with zip closure and only grind what I need for immediate use. Don't believe the popular advice disseminated elsewhere to store roasted beans at room temp. Your freezer is your best friend for keeping those freshly roasted beans fresh! The service is always prompt, pleasant, and efficient. [PS - There are awesome teas and exotic rices to be found here, as well as a small Asian grocery section in back, and freshly roasted peanuts on Wednesdays!]

Great place for a class field trip!

Adults can browse hundreds of unique historical displays and local arts.
Located on the grounds of Hagerstown City Park, you can browse the displays and hen take a fresh air walk around the ponds and let the kids burn off steam on multiple playground sets.
Bring some cracked corn so the little ones can feed the ducks and swans.

Renfrew became a public museum and park in 1975 through the generosity of its last private owner, Emma Geiser Nicodemus, and her sister, Hazel Geiser. In her will Emma Nicodemus specified that her house and the surrounding 107-acres, willed to the Borough of Waynesboro, be made into a museum and parkland. Mrs. Nicodemus wanted the facility to be called Renfrew in remembrance of two young sisters by that name. According to local legend, the girls met their demise in 1764 on what is now Park property. More than a quarter of a century after its creation, Renfrew has grown by leaps and bounds. Research and restoration have expanded the scope of the site to include a Visitors Center in the Victorian period barn, several restored outbuildings which include the smokehouse, milkhouse, and the Fahnestock farmstead with its barn and house. We have designated all the important Royer farmstead sites with bronze markers set in field stone.
We have visited this museum for many different events but the Civil War Reenactment and Christmas presentation are the best. The grounds are kept immaculately and the House & Barn are chuck full of interesting antiques and articles.

I believe this is probably the biggest covered bridge I have ever seen...and like the park itself was very well maintained and a fun place to hike. The only complaint I have is that the frisbee trails were not very well marked for the next hole. Other than that, a very nice place to visit!

I wanted chocolates for a friend's birthday and remember being impressed with the quality offered at Zoe's (I'd popped in late last year). I didn't realize the store had gone through such extensive renovations since then! The displays are inciting, the expanded space gives a chic meets antique feel that I found very inviting. There's even glass paned observation area in the back now to watch the chocolatiers at work. I'll not wait so long for my return trip!
The chickadee selection was perfect! There's a candy bar just for birthdays and they had a Spring limited edition bar with a clear sugar glazed fresh flower impressed into the chocolate.
Small bite sized pieces were for sell as well as a large array of pre-boxed/bagged chocolate treats.
The staff members were exceptionally friendly too, welcoming but not over bearing. Well done

We loved it here. :) Checked it out last weekend, beautiful weather and was looking to have some fun with our kids, ages 8 and 11. The inside is a castle with fun decor but in and outside. Lots of great games and prices are great. You gets lots of tickets and the prizes are really great too. The outside has a jumping castle-we did not try it out though, mini golf-large and nice course, fun, batting casges-did not try out, smaller and regualr size go karts-saving for next time but courses looked nice. Cute snack bar and seating areas with tv. So clean and nice looking. No chipped paint, food on floor/tables, just really nice and clean. So impressed honeslty. Would go here ten times over before hitting Chuck E Cheese. Bday partuies going on and the prices for them on the flier looked great. Can't wait to go again! :)

It never ceases to amaze me, even when I first went to Hagerstown City Park as a small child -- the park is great. Whether you have a family or need to sit up a social event, this park is one that I recommend to everyone.

There seems to be a couple names used to refer to this shop, including the Candy Kitchen. Whatever you call it, the candy is delicious! I sampled 2 truffles and the almond butter crunch. They were delicious and the price was reasonable for the quality. There was a huge selection, it can be hard to make a choice...go ahead, treat yourself and get both (or all three).

This market was a great find. I am willing to drive a two-hour round trip to get there occasionally and only wish it were nearer. Open Thurs, Fri, Sat (check hours). Free parking lot.
Terrific bakery (try the old-fashioned sand tarts from Ridgeview's Bake Shop, Lancaster County, PA), large deli (great salads, rice custard), cheese counter, candy store, butcher, hot cooked meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, meals to go or to enjoy in casual seating, and more. Some gifts and furniture. Hard working vendors. A cultural throwback and a joy.
There is a sister store in Germantown, MD, just off I-270.

I stopped in the I-81 Greencastle PA Welcome Center as I drove north on the interstate.
As soon as I entered the Welcome Center, I was greeted by a very helpful woman who asked how she could assist me. Everything I asked about, she was able to find immediately, and make other suggestions. She also gave me maps that would be helpful and showed me distances on their master map at the desk.
Example: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Bedford Springs, Gettysburg, Lancaster ( she asked about Amish attractions), Falling Water (Frank Lloyd Wright's house) - and suggested Kentucky Knob, another FLW home; Wellsboro, Poconos, PA Laurel Highlands and the PA Outdoor Adventure Guide.
Wow!! That's all I can say!! She was fabulous. Everything was free of charge - no gift shop which was fine with me.
Restrooms were huge, room for plenty of travelers, and wee exceptionally clean.
Picnic tables available - a nice rest stop and information center.
