The guided tour shows visitors how ready the U.S. was for war with the Soviets.
Fascinating place to visit. Truly brings to life the "world on a knife-edge" during the Cuban Missile Crisis, reveals the constant readiness of the US Air Force during the Cold War (no doubt replicated in the old Soviet Union) and gives one a small insight into what it must have been like faced with the enormity of launching a Titan 2. I won't spoil the experience by detailing too much, save to say that you'll find out that it would have taken 58 seconds from receiving the Presidential order to launch and at that point there was no going back, no safety valve, no self-destruct just the inevitability of Armageddon. The basic very informative guided tour (recommended) takes you into the control room, across to the silo to see the Titan 2 missile in situ and gives access to the above-ground defences with a couple of exhibits. No doubt this gets very busy at peak times but as far as I recall doesn't take bookings apart from for special tours so I would suggest get there early. An extraordinary experience - scary and terrifying, sobering and though-provoking but definitely worth visiting if you are in the Tucson area....or in fact anywhere within 100 miles.

Designed by architect Ken Kavanaugh, this 18-hole, par 72 golf course stretches 7,005 yards from the championship tees with a U.S.G.A. rating of 72.80.
Occasionally this place will be a pleasant surprise but not recently. The scallops were overlooked and though, the blue cheese dressing was horrible last time we were there ( we stayed away this time). Prices keep going up. Service pretty good, good bar, but very disappointing overall. We used to like the place. We've always filled out the survey forms constructively and honestly but things don't get better. What a shame. Very clean and great location with nice seating.

Cruising from Flagstaff to the Four Corners, somewhere near Tonalea on US 160 are two rock formations that look like elephant feet and sure enougth! That's what they are called! There was a lovely Navajo lady, Francine, selling some beautiful beaded and hand-crafted jewellery! Fun stop and broke up the drive!!

Nestled along the I-19 corridor you will find the Green Valley Farmers & Artisans Market (open year-round) is the area’s oldest and largest marketplace. Each Wednesday, the morning comes alive with over 100 artisans and local food small businesses at the Green Valley Village. Stroll through the market to find artisan goods, jewelry, and southwest flavor for your home and taste buds! This market is reminiscent of the mercados from long ago, where peddlers from all over came to town to sell their wares. Our food court is especially tantalizing, offering fresh ingredients and local flavor with Sonoran Hot Dogs, a fire-breathing Pizza Dragon and Authentic German Cuisine (Seasonal Vendor). Come on by and bring your friends and family for a cup of fresh roasted coffee and flaky pastries, pick up fresh vegetables from our local growers, and enjoy live music and some of the most beautiful handmade arts and crafts from the surrounding area. Join us for this weekly community event!
My cousin, who managed a Farmer's Market in Vandalia, Ohio, thought this was an outstanding venue when she visited in March, 2017. They're coming back this spring and want to visit again.

Opened in February of 1997, the Asarco Mineral Discovery Center (AMDC) is designed to convey the vital importance of mining in our civilization. Everything that we use everyday was somehow extracted from the earth — either by farming or by mining, and “if it can’t be grown, it has to be mined.”Located 20-minutes south of Tucson, AMDC has an exhibit center, theater and gift shop. For a nominal fee, tours are conducted of Asarco's Mission Mine; an active open-pit copper mine. Tour schedule is subject to change, reservations are recommended.
My wife and I did the tour 20 years ago and I could hard wait to go again. Everything is big, really big. The tires on the trucks hauling out the ore cost $65,000 each and must be replaced every six months. These trucks must be assembled on site as they are as wide as 2 1/2 car lanes on a highway. The pit size is just amazing. The amount of electricity used. The quantity of ore removed and processed every day.

Call ahead or just stop by on Tuesday or Saturday morning and take a fascinating tour of this historic ranch. Knowledgeable docents give 90 minutes of very interesting information, plus the setting is drop dead gorgeous. Tours are free, but they do ask for donations. Best ranch tour I have ever been on.

Green Valley Pecan Store is located in the heart of the Santa Cruz River Valley just south of Tucson in Sahuarita, AZ. We have a variety of tasty treats including chocolate covered pecans, roasted/salted pecans, pecan syrups and pecan oils and even pecan pie! Other wonderful local food and crafts are available too. We are open 7 days a week. Green Valley pecans are the perfect southwestern gift to take home for a snack or send to family and friends on special occasions. Call us nutty, but we truly love what we do, and it shows in our pecans.
Nice shop next to the pecan factory. We were hoping for a factory tour but that is not allowed. So we decided to explore the shop. Variety of fresh pecan treats from the factory. We brought muffin mix home along with jellies and containers of pecans. My husband even found sugar free pecan chocolates. Enjoy the pecan groves for miles as you drive by too.

CPAC presents more than 100 concerts and live theater productions each year. We offer an on-site Art Gallery with monthly exhibits. We rent rooms for parties and events.
For the most part, all the productions at the CPAC are really top rate. I can honestly say that I have over the past 20 years, viewed one production that could have been more enjoyable. Please give the theater a try and I don't think you will be disappointed.

An 18-hole par 72 public golf course stretches 6,849 yards from the blue tees with a rating of 71.6 and slope of 117.
Nothing fancy. Okay layout. Good for most levels of play. Very flat, and uninteresting. However the conditions were acceptable.

We've eaten here before. I'll skip that since we did not eat on this occasion. Instead, I will concentrate on the golf.
It is, without a doubt, the best golf course in the area. And for the reasonable price, it's worth playing again, and again, and again...
