St Kilda Esplanade Market

Since 1970, The Esplanade Market has been a St Kilda Sunday delight. It's famous for a good reason - there's something for everyone and more! Enjoy browsing through works by more than 120 artists and craftspeople in Melbourne's open-air gallery by the bay. Every stallholder has a hand in making the products being sold. Take the time to ask how the products are made, and you will soon see the love and passion that is poured into each of our one-of-a-kind pieces of work. From gifts and souvenirs to furniture and jewellery - you will leave with confidence knowing that you will take home something that is truly one of a kind. New stalls are added to the market on a regular basis, so there is always something different to catch your eye . Open every Sunday, 10 am - 5 pm come rain, hail or shine.

As a local I visit the market on a regular basis for gifts and necessities. heading up from Acland St my first stop is at Jolly Wag Tails for most of my dog Banjo's wardrobe requirements and a chat with Susie the talented creator and owner. Beside Susie is Rosie - her handcrafted jewellery is magnificent and unique and Rita with her uber cool street art wares. Her photography is amazing. Onwards to Pat where I have purchased many a beautifully handmade moneybox as gifts for loved ones (the tram and koala ones were particularly huge hits). Next stall along is Fat Mumma's - I do believe I have every style of bag made by Kathy and have purchased many for my bestest friend who lives in Ireland. The patterns range from beautiful Aboriginal designs, cute Australian animals to the intricacies of Japanese flowers. Stunning. Then on to Wyldtime Unlimited and the super talented Maria for the funkiest kids clothing and accessories. Banjo sports bow-ties, bandanas and the coolest necktie ever made by Maria's creative hands, from her extensive and incredibly cool doggy range. I love it all. I also buy my incense from the incense family who have a stall there and at Christmas time I am able to purchase gifts for loved ones from the wide variety of wares available. I am never stuck for gift ideas. I've also often walked away with a unique dress/skirt/top. Love, love this market. It's quirky, it's quality, it's local, the stall holders are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the view of St Kilda Beach is stunning. A stone's throw to Acland St for refreshments.
